REED HATES to Make the Analogy, but it's an APPROPRIATE MODEL for this Particular Situation...Professional Wrestling...

Back when they were WWF, Vince McMahon BOUGHT OUT WCW, Giving Himself a TRUE Monopoly on the Sport of Professional Wrestling...But Not Looooong Afterwards, McMahon Found Himself Almost OVERLOADED w/"Stars"...In Every Outfit You Have, "Stars", "Mid-Carders", "Prospects", "Veterans", etc...

After Juggling this for a Minute & Dealing w/the FRUSTRATIONS of "Stars" & "Veterans" who Felt they were Spending Tooooooooo Much Time as "Mid-Carder's", Vince McMahon SPLINTERED his Own Organization Into 2 Factions: RAW & SMACKDOWN...CLEARLY, Smackdown is the "Minor League" WWE Organization, yet they BOTH have "World Champions", Per Se...But U'd BEST Believe, whenever a Smackdown Wrestler Gets BIG Enough, Vince McMahon is Gonna Move him Over to the Raw Side...

REED Thinks Dana will EVENTUALLY Adopt this Model...He'll Probably Showcase the Various UFC & SF Champions on a PPV, THEN Have them Face Each Other (To Establish who THE MAN is @ Each Weight), but Still Keep the SF Belts in Rotation as a "Starter" Belt, So to Speak...It'll Take awhile for All of this to Play Out, but Dana's Roster is Now just Tooooooooo Fucking LOADED to Have a Handful of Champions & a MILLION So-Called Contenders...

SF will B UFC's Minor League/the "New" WEC...REED Even Thinks that Dana ENVISIONED an SF Buyout when he Merged WEC w/UFC a Few Months Back...

Raw and Smackdown are pretty much the same thing though, they are run by the same people, same production and there is all sort of collaboration between the two.

UFC and SF, from the sounds of it will be two entirely different entities, two different owners.

There's "Collaboration" in the Sense that When a Young Upstart has PROVEN his Worth & Established a MARKETABLE Fanbase, he Goes from Smackdown to Raw (John Morrisson, R-Truth, CMPunk, etc)...Conversely, when a Veteran is On his Way Out & No Loooooonger Able to Quite Cut it w/the ELITE, he's "Demoted" from Raw to Smackdown (Undertaker & Others)...

Vince McMahon & WWE will Never SAY it, but Smackdown is CLEARLY their Minor League Organization...

It is way more than that. They share Pay-Per-Views, wrestle together, against each other.

The tag team titles are defended on both shows. And there is often storylines with run-ins on the opposite show and whatnot.

Dana clearly stated he doesn't want to co-promote or do anything with Strikeforce.

Nope. Strikeforce is still running on its own budget.

From the sounds of it, I'm not really sure what this means or what the purpose of it was.

Actually, he's Only Said he'd "Honor" the Contracts that Showtime & the Fighters have w/Strikeforce...But Given what Happened w/Elite XC, REED Seriously DOUBTS if there's Any Substantial Length of Time on those Contracts...

REED Wouldn't Expect the CHAMPIONS from the Organizations to Face Each Other in the IMMEDIATE Future, but Rest Assured it WILL Happen...REED Bets we'll See "Strikeforce" Title Defenses on UFC PPV's as Well, which will Lead to Title vs. Title Matches...

There'd B Absolutely NO Reason for Dana to Buyout SF, if his Intent was to Operate it Seperate from UFC FOREVER...LEGALLY, he Could Integrate the 2 RIGHT NOW, but he's SAID he'll Wait til the Showtime & Individual Fighter Contracts Expire First...

Dude, watch the interview again and pay attention.

He literally, clearly says, with exact words and phrasing that the UFC doesn't co-promote and even laughed when he said even when we own them.

I wouldnt listen to anything Dana says right now. He doesnt even know what he is going to do. When its all said and done, There will be only 1 champion between the two orginzations. In fact, there wont be two orginzations. He is just waiting for all the contracts to expire. Once they do, all contracts will be done again under UFC and from there you will see the merge begin.

I completely agree. Dana's word isn't something any of us should ever think is set in stone. He likes to talk, they put a mic in front of him, he will start. We should take nothing, absolutely nothing, out of what he is saying right now. My only hope is they change SF rules of no elbows to a gounded opponent as of NOW.:notallthere:

First of all, I wouldn't take what Dana says at face value. He's still failed to deliver on a "free card of epic proportions" to make up to those that paid $50 for the Maia-Silva debacle. OF COURSE, there's gonna be superfights at some point. NO WAY is SF gonna run independently of the UFC in 5 years from now. But my greater concern is for the future of the following:

Paul Daley - lifetime suspension from UFC for postfight suckerpunch.
Babalu Sobral - lifetime suspension from UFC for holding choke submission after ref stoppage vs David Heath.
Frank Shamrock - Current SF commentator. Public war of words with Dana White over the years and they are known to genuinely hate each other.
Josh Barnett - Dana has repeatedly said that Josh will NEVER fight for UFC again due to his track record of PED use.
Fedor - After all of the insults and battles in a failed attempt to sign "the Last Emperor" 2 years ago, will Dana still be remotely interested in Fedor?
Nick Diaz - former UFC fighter, recent free agent, current SF titleholder. UFC had an opportunity to snatch him up and bolster the WW division. Didn't even make an offer. Are they interested in him? Doesnt look like it.
Dan Henderson - Split for more money. Dana said "no love lost." I wonder if thats still the case.

This list goes on and on and surely I am leaving a few people out. I'm just very curious to see what the future holds for these men under Zuffa ownership. Your thoughts?

1: Could possibly be atoned. I really think so. Otherwise will be a BAMMA fighter. But I'd expect him to be forgiven eventually depending on what comes out of his mouth and what he does.

2: Will probably retire soon anyway.

3: P.O.S commentator. Nothing of value will be lost. Strikeforce should fire him, let alone the UFC bringing him over. Knows pretty much nothing of the fighters in the cage and is pretty much a glorified play by play guy.

4: P.O.S. He shouldn't even be fighting in Strikeforce. Amazing if he can even get licensed.

5: Maybe. Not much to say other than maybe.

6: More than likely. Diaz wants money, UFC wants popular fighters.

7: No real beef between the two, Hendo and Dana will both say that. Not too much of a war or words between the two, money is just money. He'll probably have to take a paycut though, especially since no one else will give him 250k per fight like Strikeforce.

Says the guy who capitalizes random letters of sentences, speaks in the third person, and signs every post with some type of dance smiley.

REED's just pissy because he's unable to properly draw astute comparisons that are actually make sense.

Look at Charles Hatley for example.

I'm not sure what Dana's intentions are, but I know my opinion. Strikeforce will operate as a stand-alone entity until all contracts have expired or are bought out. At that point the UFC will absorb Strikeforce and keep the fighters they want and ditch those they don't.

This will not be like the WEC because Strikeforce has fighters legitimately considered among the top in the world. The UFC will want all of them under the same promotion. I think we will see far more non PPV UFC cards akin to the Strikeforce Challengers idea.

That's just my opinion. I know it might contradict Dana's interview at some points, but that's the way I see it unfolding.

They aren't going to do anything with SF right now, but Dana said they would look to sign the top guys once their contracts with SF exprie. They basically bought out the #2 Org just to own it. Strikeforce is making money, they have a good following, why not buy a successful business? They can just let it run and make money off it while taking all the really good talent to the UFC.

They have a huge fan base in San Jose, sold out the HP Pavilion at least a few times, it's an 18,000 seat venue. Just with guys like Frank Shamrock and Cung Le, who are not UFC level fighters. All the Bay Area guys draw big in San Jose. If they start losing money, I am sure they will just absorb the fighters like they did with WEC.

With a show a month and sometimes more the UFC needs more fighters anyway.

Agreed. UFC shows have really regressed from what they were five or six years ago, IMO.
