Oh OK... well, that said, who is there to cash out against at 160?

Arum lost any bargaining power at middleweight the moment Pavlik drank his career away.

Granted, a Pavlik-Margarito fight would make for a nice loser-leaves-town match, but I don't see a lot of money to be made for that fight, certainly not enough to satisfy their purse demands.

I don't like the idea of Cotto-Margarito II for reasons similar to what steve_dave stated - Margarito already received one undeserved payday with the Pacquiao fight. THAT was supposed to be his cash out fight. He's done nothing to earn a Cotto rematch (specifically, the payday and profile that comes with it) and it sickens me that it's going to happen.

I understand what you are saying about Margarito not deserving anymore paydays, but taking that out for a second, i think a rematch with him and williams would be interesting. I am dying to see how williams is after that KO. Also, Im sure Martinez would love a chance to avenge his loss.

That's no pay per view fight...and it certainly wouldn't fit in the New Meadowlands.

Not that I have any idea how Cotto-Margarito would do, but Arum's got no reason to put up Margarito for a potential loss to Williams when Tall Paul draws as well as Berto.

Not really. He was dominated and stopped, I mean yeah he took somewhat of a beating, but he was running away from Manny trying to avoid taking a beating.

It was not even close to the sick, sustained beating that Plasterito took, he looked like he got hit by a bus, and had a cracked bone in his face etc.

The first bolded part is bang on.

As for the second bolded line, wow, for the first time you're admitting that yes, common sense dictates he DID load his fucking wraps for that fight, given the absurd facial damage, and the idea he loaded his wraps for the first time against Shane is fairly ridiculous.

I have to be honest - Williams-Margarito II (at 154 or 160) isn't a bad idea. But it's not a cashout fight, and would be a B/A/D headliner at best.

But I'd rather see that fight than Williams-Cintron II.

Martinez-Margarito II is a non-starter. Even the angle of Sergio reversing a loss isn't enough to justify such a fight happening, especially considering what's at stake.

if Margarito got a shot at Martinez we might as well dub him the Mexican Andre Golota.

Which is what he'll probably be doing with Margarito as well.

Steward can say what he want about not liking the way he retreated so much in that fight, but I think Cotto's gonna have the track shoes on again in a rematch, only both guys have slowed down a lot since the first fight.

For sure. I really dont want to see Kermit fight anymore. Nothing about him interest me.

But lets say for instance that Margarito does beat Williams. And does it an a spectacular fashion (dont know how Williams will be after that KO). would that make the sergio fight have meaning? On my end it would.

Oh, of course it would. I was just saying that I don't want to see Martinez-Margarito II as the next fight for either one. But yeah, Margarito winning any fight of relevance would put him back in contention, even as much as others would hate the thought of it.

Looks like this may end up back in Las Vegas.

Lem Satterfield quoting Arum on Cintron and MAB possibly on the undercard.

Not sure how many more fans they're going to get with that, but I guess adding another Puerto Rican and another Mexican on the undercard fits with Arum's theme for the evening.
