Paul Daley not sure if he will fight Nick Diaz

So did anybody who actually read this quote from Daley actually believe for one second he would walk away from this fight of his own accord? I thought it was really sad. Poor bastard wants to be relevant but his mouth and actions make him more irrelevant everyday.

It was like the kid in school who gets turned down by the hot girl then says he likes the big color guard girl better. Then the captain of the football team says the big girls got nice juggs and Daley says well fine, I didn't want to go to prom anyways. I'd rather being playing D&D instead.

 

Naw, man, I don't think anyone here believes anything from Daley at this point. You are right, he's starting to look somewhat pathetic. He will fight Diaz the only way he doesn't is if Zuffa kicks him to the curb. Which I don't see happening.

 

Daley has a contract with Strikeforce, the UFC couldn't kick him out if they wanted to. Now, after his contract expires it's another story. They could cut him then. I doubt they do though.

 

I'm not so sure about that. Unless SF designed their contracts to be completely different than the UFC does? Being that the Zuffa now owns Daley's contract the worst case scenario for them would be that they'd have to pay him out for his remaining bouts should they want to part with him. Usually though their contracts are pretty one sided and allow for immediate termination at any time for any reason.

 

The UFC contracts allow immediate termination after a loss.

So really, as long as a guy never loses a fight, he'll be fine until his deal expires.

 

Agreed to an extent. The UFC can cut anyone at any time for any reason despite a win or loss. The worst they'd have to do is buyout the remaining fights. Good example Babalu after his win Over David Heath. It's the same for most businesses, a contract is based upon money. You can always get out by paying up.

 

Oh yeah, they can always pay, but they normally hate doing that.

I agree with you here as well. Dana made a political statement by getting rid of Daley, but it's not to say he would turn down money that could be made off of him if people want to watch. But mark my words, the first one of Diaz or Daley who pulls any unethical bs like post fight brawls they'll be getting the boot the next day. Even if it is Coker who delivers the news. And you'll know it'll be Zuffa who pulled the strings because when has Coker done shit to anyone who got out of line?

 

I just can't see Dana buying out a contract unless he's THAT pissed and stubborn. He did it with Babalu I know to send a message.

But I mean. Mark Hunt still has a job. That was ridiculous.

 

White did reiterate when he announced the Strikeforce deal that Daley will never fight in the UFC again. Dana may not be beyond U-turns but I don't think Daley is ever going to turn into a big enough draw for Dana to go back on his word and lose face.

Daley has a contract with Strikeforce and will probably stick around for as long as they remain a 'seperate entity'.

 

As much as Dana hates Nick Diaz, you know he's hoping Diaz beats Daley. It would make everything so much easier. Plus, a win over Daley makes Diaz a top 170 pound contender.

 

yeah. Getting ahead of ourselves, the only glimmer of hope for Daley having a future in the UFC would be for him to go on a mad win streak and make sure he's the champ at the time when the UFC decide to go full steam ahead with the merger (probably at the conclusion of Strikeforce's showtime deal). I'm sure they'll love to pit champion vs champion in each of the five divisions. It would test the strength of Dana's word.

Far from likely, but not an impossible scenario.
