Here's a question I'm a little interested in...what kind of coverage, if any, would you (and others) be most likely to check out on Fightbeat? Interviews, fight recaps, conference call wrap-ups, live round by rounds, opinion pieces, weekly news pieces, radio shows, photos, etc.
if this website had some relevant and interesting content then they should simply create a twitter page and immediately give the link to whatever content they post. Id read or watch interviews, breaking news, or articles that catch my attention.
I dont remember everything, because i didnt read it all but there was stuff there agreeing that Margarito didnt know about the wraps. He shouldnt be suspended for so long. They were sympathetic towards him.
I know, it was sickening, but you'd think when it comes to something like that they would just try to sort of avoid it, not stoop so low to defend that scumsucking cunt. Or just say yeah, fair play, the guy is a scumbag, sorry for being embedded in his scrotum all this time.
That's not really how I remember it. More so, to me, it was the general lack of coverage. They didn't really want to tackle the subject.
How did they cover it?? :dunno: The boxing coverage on the forums is superior to most. This thread has more legitimate boxing coverage than Ring Magazine, and I ain't half kidding.
I thought they posted all of the interviews and views from those defending him, but didnt post interviews and news condemning him.
I recall that the head guys and writers over there definitely were sympathetic to Margarito, which is inexcusable imo. Their nuthugging loyalties mean more to them than integrity.
Regardless of what Corrales did outside the ring, he never loaded his gloves inside it. Unless you're calling him a scumbag for spitting out his mouthpiece against Castillo, there's really no comparison (and even then, there's still no comparison between spitting out your mouthpiece to get a breather and the premeditated loading of gloves).
NO, I'm saying it is hilarious to see a poster huffing and puffing about what a "scumbag" someone is and rocking an avatar of a guy who threw his wife down a flight of stairs and then skipped town because whe was too much of a "distraction" while she was in the ICU and went to train in Las Vegas only to get his ass whupped anyway (by Mayweather.)
I figured. Like I said, regardless of what he did outside of the ring, he wasn't a cheater inside of it. If Corrales' behavior is a metric for despising a boxer or considering them a scumbag, we should despise 90% of boxers who've ever fought.
I agree somewhat with Calig. Diego was a scumbag. But it seems to be forgotten, even by me sometimes because of his death.
Is 90% your final answer? As for what he did inside the ring...along the lines of what Musze said, the final minute or so of the Clottey fight (starting around the 8:00 mark) ain't bad viewing. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wRSndqAjJdE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I seperate what a fighter does in and out of the ring. As a sportsman, Plasterito is a grade A scumbag and Corrales wasn't.
That's true... but IRL (beyond sports), Margarito is a family man and Chico was a Grade A scumbag. In the grand scheme of things, which would you consider more important?
I am not defending what Corrales did, that obviously WAS a scumbag move. But sometimes people do just kind of go crazy in the heat of the moment, especially when it's something as emotionally involved as a relationship. Apart from that one time, Corrales was generally well liked and seemed affable. He never did anything else scumbag esque did he? Plasterito seems like far, far more of a scumbag to be honest. He seems like a sick fucker, and basically a psychopath. To do something as sick and premeditated as load your gloves you have to be a sick fuck. He's shown absolutely NO REMORSE and just denied it with that horrible smug grin on his ugly, floppy face. He has also demonstrated delinquent behaviour in other ways, such as mocking Freddy Roach's parkinsons. Again, I'm not defending what Corrales did, I've never even slapped a woman, it's inexcusable, but overall I consider Plasterito to be the far bigger scumbag, to be honest.
That's not entirely true. they were skeptical at first because they were friends with the guy. Spent many hours in the gym with him...but as thestory developed and they talked to more fighters who called his excuse "bullshit" they dropped the skepticism. I'm no fan of Maxboxing...particularly Steve Kim but to state they painted him as a victim is garbage...especially in light of your saying you didn't "read it all."
Margarito is despised in boxing circles...his fight with Pacquiao was roundly criticized by fans and the press...just recently, in the build-up to a Cotto rematch, he was roundly boo'd when intro'd to the crowd at Cotto-Mayorga and was basically shunned by the press when he was invited, by Arum, up to the podium.
