Yet everyone agrees with me, and you're left to argue your point solo.

It's all good man. 5-1 is pretty lopsided, I didn't think Trplsec would bail in the dying moments like that. I would have been happy with 4-2, but I can't lie, after a few days of wall-talking, 5-1 feels pretty good. :bears:

So what have we learned here?

Z, jarhead, Trplsec, Bob and steve_dave believe that Japanese Pro Wrestling (or wrestlers) has had influence (however big or small that influence might be, irrelevant) on MMA as we know it today.

    Godfather disagrees.

    5-1.

    Thanks guys,

Actually when its all said in done, you have reached to Ken Shamrock as your only link to Japanese Pro Wrestling and Modern MMA, and from this, Modern MMA's roots are Pro Wrestling. Brilliant. If you arent embarrassed by this, i dont know what to tell you.

Don't put me in the 5.. Saying the MMA was influenced by former pro wrestlers is a country mile from your statement that modern MMA is all rooted in 80's pro wrestling in Japan.

But in all honesty, you lost this debate when you quoted incorrect information lifted from freaking Wikipedia. Seriously, that looked stupid dude.

Uhh? What exactly did I agree with you about Stevedave?

Did you really just refer to Maeda as a Pro Wrestler and, oh by the way, also a Judoka? Please. That is even a further stretch than Steve_Dave.

And I'm certain, yes quite certain, that Maeda was not involved in the 80's Pro Wrestling scene in Japan since he died in 1941..

Calling Maeda a professional wrestler in the same vane as Pro Wrestling as we know today is the most ridiculous claim I've ever scene.

He think you agreed with me because you and I disagreed on how popular Pride was. Andrew will take anything he can get. I just left it alone.

That Japanese pro wrestling has had more than zero influence on modern MMA.

To be fair to me, this started with me not agreeing that Pride Influenced current MMA. This is how it Andrew started this whole thing. It ended with Shamrock as a pro wrestler and he fought in the UFC so MMA has roots in pro wrestling:atu:

After the initial debate andrew kept changing his questions and adding more to his claims. This is definitely Hall of Shame Worth

Yeah, unfortunately I've followed your spin circus since the first page. Don't be daft, this was your first stance:

And now it's been chopped all the way down from roots to "more than zero influence".

MMA, as we know it today, has roots in Japanese pro wrestling. That's factual, dear Trplsec. :bears:

Influence, roots, what's really the difference? It's all the same shit, my man. We cool though. Had to change my words slightly to get some of you to see what I'm talking about.

  22. Trplsec

    Trplsec Sleeps in a Cage

Well, and there's the problem. There isn't anything in the UFC 'ROOTED' in 80's Pro Wrestling in Japan.

It's not word choice or interpretation. It's just not true.

You change your words drastically because you're wrong and you've admitted as much.

This has become the absolute most boring thread on the forum. I am done.

Maybe this will clear it up for you....

Pride has roots in Japanese Pro Wrestling. Pride has been influential to MMA as we know it today.

The same formula works for Ken Shamrock. Cheers, Trplsec. :bears:

It has roots because Shamrock, a pro wrestler, learned Martial Arts and decided to switch professions.

His MMA career has clear, undeniable roots in pro wrestling. :bears:

New profession, new roots. But thats okay. But in the end, you base Moddern MMA success on the pro wrestling background of Ken Shamrock. LMAO

Ok, Maeda never practiced Judo nor was it his primary martial art. Also BJJ is not a variation of Judo.

    Read up. http://mitsuyomaeda.com/

You guys are funny. Now professional wrestling in maeda's day is like Japanese 80s pro wrestling? Its clear from that article that those matches were not scripted and they were doing actually wrestling. Im sure the term pro wrestling didnt have the same meaning it does today.
