I agree, I think the punch hurt him, looked like it landed high on the head..Solis might have gotten caught with his feet out of position contributing to whatever injury he might have suffered.

Can't agree that this result was "better" for anyone watching the sport, at least anyone watching this fight, but I guess this does get us closer to Vitali versus Haye/Adamek later on, which are both bigger fights.

I´m sure the extra two minutes of that long fight could have seriously screwed with your time management for the day. :scratcher:

Solis was emboldened by his early success. He stepped in and got nailed. After that it was a matter of opinion, and medical investigation, as to what happened his leg.

He blocked the freaking punch!!! Why didn't anyone on the broadcast mention that?!!

It was a glancing blow that was blocked and he faked the delayed reaction, in my opinion!

However, during his theatrics, he may have injured his knee for real.

He did not block it. From the other angle you can see the punch hit him on temple. Whether that punch was enough to make Solis dizzy or not is different but it definitely landed

I thought that punch rocked Solis badly. This Epix broadcast is awful.

He might have been hurt by the punch and then hurt his leg because of it...Grant McCline...hard to tell.

Haye and Adamek are bigger fights, but I'd pick Solis against either. I wouldn't be surprised if Haye is better than Solis, but I would be surprised if Adamek is.

I would have picked Solis against Adamek before tonight but we'll see how he comes back from this, physically, hopefully he doesn't balloon up...not sure about Haye, despite their amateur result.

Tony Paige did sports radio in NYC; probably still does. Anyway, I called years ago and asked him about his opinion of Vic Darchynian. He said he never heard of him! That was in '06!

He was also the President of the Boxing Writers Association of America. He was the only guy on a major radio station that talked boxing! He had a hell of a lot of callers, too. He was on Saturday's from 1am-5am. Very good show.

There is no excuse not to know who vic was in 2006. Irene Pacheco was a name titlist and Vic had been a champion for a while after.

Boxing announcers know much more about fighters these days than they did in the 90's. I'm surprised Paige didn't know Darch. It's easier to follow the world scene since the internet has grown. And a lot easier to watch the fighters on the world scene. It wasn't so long ago that you would have to count on specific posters to give results from their country's fights.

Before the weigh in Solis trainer told Solis to never look Vitali in the eyes because he´s a voodoo master, who would take his soul. Guess when Solis avoided eye contact Vitali took his knee instead.

Punch definitely landed. Vitali cannot win, even when he wins. No worse than the injury related losses of guys like Orlin Norris and Clifford Etienne at the hands of Mike Tyson. In fact it was different in that Solis was definitely hurt. Despite the fact that Solis came in and employed a mobile, sniping approach, this will very much be passed off as another black mark against HW boxing.

Wow. Just terrible. That was a HW Championship fight? That made Tyson-Seldon look completely legit.

Vitali and I agree. That was BS.

Even Klitschko didn't think the punch was legit.

Solis actually did look better than anyone has since Lewis. He has very educated feet. Might have been a proper, watchable fight. This is a shame.:pathetic:

Yes Vitali is a hot head. He felt he was robbed of the opportunity to give Solis a proper beating.

Solis won the first round and obviously had a (surprising) game plan which was proving feesible. No reason to quit then

    :pig:

No he didn´t. He was knocked out. If he hadn´t been knocked out, he was at least knocked down. Therefore he did not win the first round.

    Understatement?

So does this now become like the Cutler injury, as we wait to hear the severity of the damage?

His promoter saying what you'd expect:
