Haye thinks he is going to find Wlad leaning in. One way to avoid leaning in is throw left hooks, lead left hooks from the outside. That way he can throw short punches without actually leaning in. He can keep his right hand up, circle, and hook.

Wlad can be pretty disciplined with his left hand early in fights, I'm not sure how many times they're going to be trading right hands to start the fight.

There are fights Wlad doesn't even really throw his right until 2-3 rounds in, and I think this might be one of them.

Seems to me the gameplan for him would be to use the left hand almost exclusively from range and make Haye try to change that.

Despite his comments, Haye can be a pretty respectful guy in the ring, and I think he's going to expend a lot of energy moving around, and maybe picking some moments to offer up a jab, maybe some to the body, and being very selective with his right, and some of what he does throw I think will be more token efforts than anything.

When this fight was first talked about some years ago, the fight that came to my mind was Lewis-Morrison...Wlad would do well to follow that gameplan.

Why would Wlad go reaching Haye? Haye's bread and butter in the ring is to lure the opponent in and land the quick and hard right over the top and Wlad knows that. Also, that is Wlad's best weapon too. The difference is Wlad's reach and jab: he can score points from outside as long as he needs to and control the fight that way, so it is Haye who has to come in.

Mitchell's comparison to Lewis-Morrison is a very good one

Just watching Haye vs Ruiz again.

Haye floored Ruiz, then clubbed him to the floor again with rabbit punches, then hit him at least 10 more clean blows towards the end of the round, none of which even went close to hurting Ruiz.

Haye is also profligate, swinging and missing with regularity and Hayes mouth was open by the end of the first round. For a guy who complains about Wlad only throwing the 1-2, he, Haye, throws precious little else himself. Most of his attacks consist of a 1-2, then left hook then right hand, with maybe 2 out of every 4 shots landing.

Haye was also dropped by a Ruiz right with seconds left in the first, which was missed by the referee. Haye was held up by the ropes. This was with about 15 seconds left in the fight.

Haye got away with the sloppiness he exhibited in that fight because Ruiz lacked the verve, range and athleticism to keep pressing Haye, which allowed Haye to recuperate and get his wind back.

What is Haye going to do if Wlad stands off him??? He can't sell his soul twice, there are no more bits of paper for him to sign and come out the correct side of a 12 round majority decision, so this jab to the belly-run-away routine won't cut the ice.

For a guy who accuses others of having no composure or class, Haye does an awful lot of leaping-out and running.

Just looking at the ringside audience for Haye vs Ruiz.....:atu: I see a lot of headbands, cheap double knits, little black numbers, moody gold and t-shirts, its Benn vs McClellan all over again. At least Bruno wore a suit that night.

Thats why Wlad has to win and in style. He can end this chavvery once and for all.

He may be a clown, but that clown can hit like Dick Butkus.

Wlad is going to have to fight this time out; and he cannot take a great punch, either.

I understand your take on this Karl, "however" Haye doesn't have great footwork. the few times I've seen him when he missed punches he's badly off balance and he crosses his feet far more often than you'd expect a guy with his 'ability" should.

I think he's going to have a difficult time standing his ground to set properly to get off his shots based on how poor his footwork is. Plus, he gives up his height and doesn't have great head movement.

he will be dangerous early only because he's fresh but he gets very sloppy as the rounds wear on.

With that said...I'd give him a better shot at beating Wlad that Vitali. Vitali doesn't have the natural ability but he uses what he has well. He's so damn tall and wisely nearly never gives up his height. Haye would have no choice but to reach for him.

As I see it, Wlad has a better chin than Haye, Wlad punches harder than Haye.

Therefore: Will Wlad be able to take what Haye dishes out, Will Haye be able to land anything of note?

We know Wlad can hurt and stop Haye, the question is who will land first and, in Hayes case, will once be enough?

Hayes finishing skills have been desultory- at Cruiser, they were good, at Heavy, especially illustrated in the Ruiz and Barrett fights, they have been less than good. Even with Audley he seemed to mis-time quite a few of his shots, and Audley was most accommodating.

I still don't understand why Haye didn't go after Vitali first. That's a much easier fight for him. Wlad, on the other hand..

On paper, Vitali is easier. He is creaking, he's wearing those chiropodist socks now, like an old woman with fat ankles. He is easier to hit.

The problem is that the chin is the last thing to go. Haye would hit him, not have the desired effect, and then find himself discouraged and not having any success.

Then, with Wlad, the perceived wisdom is that this guy is easier to hurt......but he is also harder to avoid being hit by.

Haye and Booth aren't really that clever. I give them credit for sticking with each other and trying to get things done together, but then again, so did Laurel and Hardy.

I see it the other way around. Haye has to fight this time. If this is a boring chessmatch then Wlad wins all day every day.

It's real easy to jump on a huge favorite in a fight like Klitschko is in this one.

Wlad controls these guys he demolishes by hitting them where they cannot hit him back as he simply jumps back out of the zone and around the ring like a giant kangaroo.

David needs to draw this guy into range, and he can by getting to him mentally.

Haye needs to walk away from the guy to ring centre when he starts that and wave him into fight, thus bringing him into striking range.

Haye needs to do this multiple times and hit the guy low..very hard at least twice to take his mobility and legs away, losing points will be insignificant as it will not go the limit anyway.

After the crowd and the referee starts to play a big role in this scenario, then Wladimir shall have no other choice but to trade punches, and therein lies Haye's best opportunity to hit him on the chin.

Frustrating Wlad is David's best shot here, let that guy come to him..not the other way around.

By all rights, Wlad should win convincingly; but in boxing, many times the clear favorite does not do that.

Again I agree "however" Haye is far clumsier on his feet than Wlad. Couple that with his poor stamina as the rounds go on I see more openings for Wlad. Either that or haye puts up a non-effort and settles for lasting the distance.

Haye isn't anywhere as slick or fluid as say a guy like Chris Byrd was therefore I have a hard time seeing him fighting this focused and technical fight.

Haye's only real shot, IMO, is the early blitz. He absolutely has to get to, and hurt Wlad badly in the first couple of rounds.

Do you realize that in the majority of your responses you use phrases like "Are you trying to say...Are you saying...In other words..?"

Please figure things out for yourself, bro.

That is why I have not responded to your questions as you repeatedly try to turn statements around based upon your own assumptions.

Bottom Line: This is professional prizefighting, not charm school.

George Foreman made a career out of fouling people, notably by hitting people with low blows, and Sugar Ray Leonard hit more fighters after the bell than anyone I can recall, and of course Terry Norris must have iced a dozen poor souls while they were on the floor.

All three are in the IBHOF, and my question to you is : Were they inducted for being cheaters?

I am saying that low blows and other infractions are part of the sport, and they always will be.

You do what you have to do to win, and if anyone really thinks otherwise; I will recommend that you lobby your local commission or sanctioning body.

Agreed. This is a fantastic betting fight, IMO, because there's only two possible outcomes. Either Haye wins in the first 4 rounds or Wlad wins by KO.

You can get GREAT odds on both (5/1, 11/8).

You really think it's a good idea to let Wlad come to Haye? Wlad will pick him apart. You have to rough up Wlad, be aggressive. Haye should be watching the Sanders fight.

Wlad fights completely different now than he did way back then.

If Haye tries that, he will be playing right into Steward's hands, and most of his shot will go right out the proverbial window.

Haye fights very similarly to Sanders in allot of ways actually. He's certainly the quickest and most dangerous puncher Wlad has faced since.

    Looking forward to this one.

He's not as aggressive and doesn't hit nearly as hard as Sanders.

If you're Wlad, why even give attempt to go to the body and allow Haye a potential opening?

And yeah, I assume you're joking.
