Solis is 31 and been a pro since 2007.

You want to compare how far along Calzaghe and Johnston were in their careers by 31?

Nice try. Now Solis is a "greenhorn" rather than a worthy challenger and legit contender. Which is it? Are you flipping or flopping here? It gets hard to tell because you do it so often.

Or Antonio Tarver, when he was getting dropped and broke-jawed by Eric Harding.

Solis was a mandatory contender. How's that for some legalese?

Are you suggesting Solis is going to knock one of the Klitschko's out?

If/when he does, he can be mentioned with Tarver.

Doesn't say that much for the threshold to become a mandatory contender these days, does it?

I'm suggesting that Solis, as a relatively age-advanced ex-amateur, has run into a brick wall which, if the division is as bad as you think it is, might still be there in 2 or 3 years for him to have another go at.

I'm suggesting that it isn't only Solis who was a relatively "old" ex amateur who had difficulties early on in his career.

Thats a matter for the sanctioning bodies who have been up to all manner of nonsense at 154, 147, etc.

Besides, Vitali retained his mandatory status which, with his being the tip of a rotten ice-berg, I am sure you approve of.

Yeah, but your example isn't the norm...and Tarver not only knocked out Harding a rematch, he then beat Montell Griffin and eventually knocked out Roy Jones Jr. and became the champion of the division.

So, again, if you want to find the equivalent for Solis, it would at least have to include knocking out a Klitschko, and really, since Tarver unified titles, it would be more like beating both Klitschko's.

So Solis is actually further along the line than Tarver was? Losing title fights by his 17th fight? That was Tarvers racket too. The difference is he lost to an Eric Harding along the way. Solis losing to Vitali is like Tarver losing to Roy. Except Vitali is better now than Roy was then.

For what it is worth, Tarver needed two bites of the same damaged cherry before he got it right. If you think Vitali is as soft as Roy was by then, well.....there isn't much more I can add to that then.

Yeah, except Tarver went the distance his first time with Roy and actually drew on one of the official scorecards.

What was the Klitschko-Solis result again? You can write it, don't feel embarrassed.

But I love how Roy was a "damaged cherry", that's exactly the way everybody looked at him after he beat Ruiz.

Klitschko TKO 1 Solis. I like it.

Dude, Roy dropped 25lbs of lean body tissue. I'm not debating the matter any further with anyone who wants to think that the Roy who fought Ruiz was the same Roy who fought Tarver.

    Please.......

Nobody said it was the same Roy, but if it shuts you up, I'll go with it.

:crafty: The Boxingtalk editor, who is obviously rattled and heartbroken, refuses to admit it, absolutely refuses.. (dat bwoy be angrah!!!) ... I expect, tantrumous morons on other forums to believe that hysterical propaganda can hide video and audio evidence, but I sometimes forget that most website editors are of the same make up, nasty little right-wingers,.. 'bringing the streets' to journalism as it were.
