Cro Cop is not so much shot as he is in over his head with today's heavyweights. He was good for his time just like many other pride fighters.

Carwin is just a terrible matchup for him.

And it isn't as if Gonzaga didn't nearly kill Cro Cop.

Again, I've heard sentiments that Cro Cop is probably an all time level overrated fighter and topics like this are exactly why it his some legitimacy. The dude isn't dominating shit, in any era ever. He's just not that good nor consistent. Even in his prime he has losses to guys like Randleman, Mark Hunt, Gabriel Gonzaga. A bunch of mediocre fighters.

The only reason why he's so overrated is because his fanboys can get over the fact that he kicks guys in the head and has an exciting style.

 

We need to add this to the TLC collection.

Explain how it is factual.

 

1: Cain is a multi-talented, well rounded undefeated champion and a consensus number 1 HW in the world. Not only was Cro Cop not a number 1 HW, he never even won a major world title, too busy being knocked out by Kevin Randleman during the middle of win streaks.

2: Cro Cop struggled mightily with big fighters, especially when they applied pressure on him. Hunt and Kongo are perfect examples. Both are absolutely mediocre fighters at the most generous of ratings, yet beat up Cro Cop.
Cro Cop didn't have a great chin either, it wasn't glass but a guy like Shane Carwin could easily knock him out from either ground and pound or in the clinch, and Carwin would take him down at will.

I do like the suggestion though that somehow this batch of HWs is just worse or something than the last that Cro Cop would be the best HW in the sport apparently if he was in his prime now.

As if, somehow in some weird way, the likes of Mir, Overeem, Cain, Lesnar, Dos Santos, Werdum, Carwin are somehow worse than the likes of Gonzaga, Hunt and Randleman. Or even CC's best wins, Igor and young Barnett.

It's almost as if this new craze that's come into the HW division as of late, grappling, would be a terrible idea against Cro Cop.
That and actually weighing in close to the maximum.
That and having more than one skill(except Lesnar)

No one knows if he would be the best currently, but I giarantee you that a prime Crocop would have a great chance at beating anyone in the UFC HW division today, and to deny that is just foolish.

People forget how good Crocops TDD was in his prime.
