Anyone else a touch moist about this one?

Gamboa really is one crazy, reckless little shit; like a featherweight Ricardo Mayorga, mindset wise. As far as he's concerned he's in a fight and winning the sporting contest is secondary to fucking the other guy up and outmanning him. One of those rare guys, who guarantees entertainment. That said, for all his recklessness, he has some gorgeous skills, tremendous punch picking & variety.

Solis has two losses in 45 fights - one a shock loss where he was deducted FOUR points by the ref; the other to Manny Pacquiao. A rangy, long armed boxer puncher, but with a porous defence and recurrent tendency to get drawn into fights. And one with pop, which given Gamboa's vulnerability is the main reason for my excitement going into this one. I think this has FOTY contender written all over it.

    Gimme some thoughts.

I like Gamboa by close decision.

But if he gets caught early with something serious, all bets are off.

I like Gamboa too, but it's pretty much guaranteed excitement, isn't it? There's literally no way for this not to be a really good fight. :crafty:

After initially thinking he was overhyped etc, I really like Gamboa.

I agree, he is super fun to watch, and has solid offensive skill, great handspeed etc.

To be honest I think Gamboa beats the shit out of Solis. That was one of Pacquiao's most uninspired performances, and he still won easily.

Comparing ANYONE with Pacquiao isn't a great idea I know, but my point is that wasn't even close to the best Pacquiao that showed up against Solis, and Solis doesn't impress me much.

I'll be disappointed in Yuriorkis if he doesn't dish out a beating.

Yeah, this is a bit of a litmus test to see just how good Gamboa is. If he can dominate a guy on Solis' level then he's worth the hype, if not, then he's maybe just this decades Arturo Gatti with more style. I personally expect him to put it all together and win this impressively, after his customary early round shakiness.

I think Gamboa has all the tools in the world "however" I have a feeling he's Joan Guzman II. At some point he'll lose focus and that natural ability and movement will turn into running and stinking out decisions.

I don't think he's got stink in him, he's more likely to just stop training properly and get beat up by some nobody. More like Tyson than Guzman. Guzman is really another James Toney, IMO. He'll lose fights out of fatness/laziness but probably never get beat up as such.

I'm a very big Gamboa fan, but for some reason I have a feeling that this one won't be very entertaining. I don't know why, as Solis isn't in too many boring fights (although his brother has become surprisingly dull in recent years).

But for whatever reason, not really up for this fight - the card in general. Mikey Garcia-Matt Remillard doesn't do much for me either, again even though I'm a Garcia fan.

Of course he is, he's an excellent fighter, and Solis is well, not that good.

    A classic Radio Man pick.

Like I said, Solis stood no chance.

Damn Gamboa is fun to watch.

Given how weak the bottom five of the P4P Top Ten is, is Gamboa there already?

Wow! That was an ass whipping. Good for Gamboa, long time coming.

So let's see... Garcia doesn't want to fight him (yet). Top Rank doesn't want him anywhere JuanMa (yet). Molitor lost earlier today (apologies to those who were trying to avoid that spoiler ), and isn't a very good 122 lber to begin with, so that doesn't help. Top Rank won't do business with Chris John, so that's out.

Perhaps Gamboa-Vazquez Jr if WV2 is ready to move up anytime soon?

Is Arum retarded putting that Ravens safety in the ring with MMA fighters. One of them will KO Zibo and Dana White will :wack:

Yep, like Pacquiao against Floyd's best wins :kidcool:

By the way, I've been saying this for a couple of years, but Gamboa gives Lopez a beating.

Lopez is pretty average at world level, Gamboa is much better.

    Right round, wrong name.

But as you know, if I'm not taking bets on a fight, I'm pretty much just throwing shit out there. All my favorite fighters are getting old and are retired or should be retired and i'm getting old and find it more difficult to care about these fights. And for some strange reason, I don't even fucking remember when Pac fought Solis. I remember him winning the title against that African at 122 and beating Lucero and MAB and his three fights with Morales and two fights with JMM. I remember his fight with David Diaz and everything he's done at 140 and up. Cannot remember one detail of his fight with Solis. Not a press conference, hearing about a result, seeing a poster, nothing. :TLC:
