It seems funny saying this now seeing as a year ago everyone on this forum would have picked Fedor, but yeah, I would confidently pick Jones to win now.

It remains to be seen how good Jones is at heavyweight, but the guy is a 6'4 powerhouse, he should be at heavyweight really.

And how has Overeem shown us that he has improved his TDD? What has he done over the past few years to show us this?

I've always liked Overeem, and he may well have improved AND be better suited at heavyweight, but who has he beaten since getting bashed up by the good fighters he faced in 2007?

Overeem is on a run of impressive wins over fairly average fighters.

I'd like to see him face someone legit at HW before getting giddy on him.

To me Jones Vs Reem would be a pick em fight. Reem is bigger and has more experience at heavyweight, but I think Jones is the better fighter.

And Overeem is 253. While 3 weeks out from his fight with Bader, Jones was 220 lbs with 8% body fat. He would easily be at least a 240 lb HW.

Secondly last I checked, 20 lbs plus an inch in height = Bigger.

And significantly so.

Probably even a bigger disparity in terms of strength, Overeem through around a 265lber like a ragdoll.

 

240-253 is close, just as I said earlier. If you don't think a 240 lb Jones could take down Overeem, you are even stupider than we all think.

So IF Bones were to fight Reem at HW (I thought this was a Bones-Fedor thread...), Bones would concede 20 pounds (give or take) to Reem. Hmmmm Funny cuz Fedor (whom you've always bashed) has given up 20 pounds to opponents in 70% of his fights and he STILL DEMOLISHED THEM. No way a kickboxer defeats Bones because single discipline styles are very easy to prepare for. I think you underestimate Jones ability to adapt during a fight, switch levels, adjust offensively/defensively, etc. Based on well-rounded-multi-discipline-superior-athleticism I see Bones winning. Would be interesting to watch for 3 minutes. After that, Muscleman would be gasping for air like Bobby Lashley and we'd all be shaking our heads.
