This marijuana business sounds half-assed, non-organized. The fact that they were driving around with the stuff themselves, and failed to sell it, should count for rather than against them when push comes to shove. His fathers community rep might go some way to helping him. That said I think avoiding a custodial sentence will be nigh-on impossible. That said if Ayala Jr could burst a womans bladder via rape and avoid jail-time then maybe Hately can plea-bargain his way out of this.

Does crossing State-Lines with this stuff carry any extra penalty?? A heavy bag filled with grass could be anything from 20lbs to 150lbs....

So basically, they've admitted to driving through three states - unless they bought the weed in Mississippi, in which case, it would be two, though still enough to make it go Federal.

It's stupidity on their part, but I agree with Karl - for the moment, it's a victimless crime. No weapons were found, doesn't sound like anything violent occurred during any portion of this failed road trip... and honestly, it's just weed.

 

Thats what I felt too. Basically look like a couple of amateurs trying to make a little extra money. I am guessing the weed was grown locally and they came across it or picked it up for next-to-nothing. Weed is quite commonplace now.

 

Cops know how to go to work on kids. Trust me. They start in on you and tell you your lawyer is on the way and in the meantime they probe and tell you its 25-to-Life if you don't say something, all this BS.....
