One of Jean Claude Van Damme's finest efforts: <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/24j7WthwJXs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I just bought a copy of it a few days ago. It's on TV a lot but it still isn't often enough for me, so I got it. A classic.
Only recently found out that the guy that played Tong Po in Kickboxer was the guy that gets his leg broken by Chong Li in Bloodsport.
classic soundtrack: "we'll steal the night, let's steal the night..." "KUMITE, KUMITE, KUMITE -" chong li is probably the coolest looking guy in movie history. was pretty gutted as a kid when he just bithced out in the final, resorted to that shitty powder.
You come upstairs with me for an interview. What kind of a deal? He's the American shithead who makes tricks with bricks! Ha,you lose American asshole! Now I show you a trick or two!
Loved it as a kid, but even back then found the fight scenes without Van Damn in them pretty mediocre. I've seen it enough to last a life time as is pretty much the case with all of Van Damn's films that weren't straight to video. Cyborg, Kick Boxer, Time Cop, Lion Heart, and Double Impact. Funny thing is the one I'd probably watch if it came on right now is his first one, No Retreat, No Surrender which had some of the best fight scenes out of all his films IMO. I also really like the fight scenes in Black Eagle with Sho Kushogi, but that was one really slow and boring movie.
Definitely, that's why I said I liked the fight scenes from it, it was one of the slowest most boring action films I've ever had the displeasure to sit through.
Oh yeah, DI was freaking awesome. I've seen that one several times and could easily sit through it today. Funny thing is I used to be the biggest Van Damn fan but then I started noticing the repetitiveness in his fight scenes. It was like he'd do the same big time moves in all his films like he was thinking maybe the fans who are watching this film didn't get the chance to see me do this in my last film. I quickly soured on the guy and it's no coincidence his career went in the toilet around the same time the quality of his action scenes did.
