It's probably good that you've decided to stop arguing for AO because you're obviously not very good at it. The whole concept of being mathematically irrelevant definitely went over you're clearly emotional and over worked brain.

Mark Hunt is a legend/hero/favorite in K1, and so is Sami Schilt. K-1 is far from the standard for the world's premier athletes especially when we are referring to MIXED martial arts.

And when it comes to the size difference in Heavyweight being over valued let me educate you on how a successful argument works. I state facts and examples that support my point. Youre supposed to think about facts and cases that help support your incorrect theory, then open your air robbing mouth. But that was either beyond your limited capacity or you're just lazy. So I'm still correct and you still look like a little kid playing with men.

Now before you type you're next post take a deep breath and think about it. It only took a little banter yesterday for you to lose your composure and throw a tantrum. To be nice I'll give you a free pass and I'll forget this ever happened. You can go back to playing world of Warcraft and eating your Dino shaped chicken nuggets?? Huh what do you say little guy, it'll make you happy!:goingmad::NotThink:

Funny, you're the one who seem emotional.

As I said, Mark Hunt was nver considered a top k1 fighter. He was very lucky to win the GP he won.

And no you didn't states fact, you gave anecdote, wich is crap, cause you could give a million other example of a bigger guuy beating a smaller. Fact would be statistic of the % of the time the bigger guy won in a fight, or better yet, a logistic regression taking many variable into account, and testing specifically if weight has an importance in the outcome of a hw fight.

And btw, you're trying waay too hard to be funny

Wow words of a defeated man. I really didn't realize how ill equipped you were. Your syntax bearly makes sense and you've done nothing but solidify my statements in my last post? Stats big guy win Million time more?? Come on buddy give it a little bit of a shot. I'm rooting for you!

To end the argument since math, research or facts aren't your strong suit, I'll give you this non anecdotal statement: The greatest heavyweight fighter in the history of MMA (Fedor ,not debatable) Is also historically one of the most undersized fighters in the division. How about I color it with finger paints so you comprehend? Little guy beat big everytime for nearly a decade. Get it???:giggle:

And no I'm not trying hard at all. I am funny and you sir are my comedic muse;) Nightie Night Slugger!:boring:

I agree completely. When it comes to heavyweights, skill and quickness overcomes size in many instances. Just look at Cain/Lesnar, Couture/Timmeh, etc. Of course on the ground having the extra size/strength definately helps. However, a mere 15-20 pounds difference in a heavyweight fight is going to have a very minimal impact. Speed, technique, basic fighting instincts are far bigger factors.

    Not true.

To be honest though, Fedor was successful because he was far ahead of the curve in terms of being a well-rounded martial artist. He had a very good feel for almost every discipline. That is the primary reason he was able to beat so many of the guys he did. Typically during his amazing run he was fighting guys proficient in one discipline.

But also keep in mind that his biggest NAME wins were over guys that didn't have a huge size advantage. Guys like Mirko and Nog were basically the same size. And the best wrestlers Fedor faced were actually smaller than him. Lindland, Coleman and Randleman were actually smaller than Fedor.

And, during Fedor's "reign" the guy everyone wanted him to fight on the UFC side was Randy Couture. Couture is also a smaller fighter and had success at heavyweight.

If you want to give Fedor credit for beating guys like Hunt, Hong Man, Zulu, etc because they were bigger, go right ahead. But they all basically sucked in the MMA arena.

Fedor's peers, the guys he beat that meant something, didn't dwarf him by any means. Calling Fedor one of the most undersized HW's in history is just absurd. He maybe small compared to today's crop like Overeem, Lesnar, Carwin and JDS, but he never fought those guys.

Trpl, fedor gave up both both height and weight to crocop and big nog. Just not that much. TLC and J of M tend to rhink that 1 inch and 20 pounds is a world of difference at HW. The fedor example just diaproves that theory is all. Aside from Randy, fedor is on the smallest end of the spectrum. Thats the only we were trying to make on previous pages in this thread

My contention is calling Fedor the most undersized HW in history is absurdly incorrect. Fedor fought many guys smaller than him. That alone removes him from the 'smaller end of the spectrum".

Nog and Crop were RELATIVELY the same size. Neither guy had 20 pounds on Fedor. In watching those fights as they happened, no one was talking about the size difference.

Fedor definitely wasn't the same size as Cro Cop or Big Nog. Those guys aren't huge, but noticeably bigger than Fedor.

Not only was Fedor shorter, but he has that slightly soft, podgy looking physique, you imagine he'd be able to lose another 15/20 pounds.

Dude, get real. Without even looking up height/weight here are guys Fedor fought that weren't bigger than him.

    Arona
    Kohsaka (Twice)
    Babalu
Yanagisawa------? Not completely sure about height.
    Hasdell
    Haseman
    Valavicius
    Coleman (Twice)
    Randleman
    Lindland

And guys like Nagata, Cro Cop and Nog were bigger in height but weighed in within 10 pounds of Fedor.

So that's right around 1/2, yes HALF, of Fedor's fights against guys that did NOT have a size advantage.

To me, if you fight half of your fights against guys that are smaller or your same basic size that means you're probably not one of the smallest HW's ever.

    And yes, end of thread.

So based on your logic Roy Nelson was at a size disadvantage to Junior Dos Santos... Right?

After all Roy could stand to lose 30-40 pounds and he's 4 inches shorter than JDS.. Right????

    Ridiculous logic.

Yep JDS is a naturally bigger man, he looked it and seemed it in the ring. Much larger frame.

I'm 5'9. If I bulk up to a lardy 220 pounds, does that make me a heavyweight?

    Ridiculous logic.

Regarding Fedor, you just have to use your fucking eyes. He was noticeably smaller than Cro Cop and Nog. Hardly dwarfed, but he looked smaller in the ring. He looked about the same size as Coleman, and of course he was bigger than Arona, Lindland, Randleman etc, they are not even heavyweights.

In over half his fights, Fedor looked to be the smaller man.

Lol nah. I dont think he understood what I was getting at. Obviously Fedor wasn't one of the smaller HW's ever. However, he is/was definitely one of the smaller legitimate HWs in the sport.

For sure. The guy is not exactly tiny at heavyweight, but definitely on the smaller side.

Significantly smaller than a lot of the guys he faced, which does make his dominance more impressive.

To be honest, it's one of the things that always impressed me about him. Looks like of small at heavyweight, and a bit podgy, but strong as fuck, throwing larger men around like ragdolls.

See that's the problem. Unlike some newbies, I remember these fights as they happened. I'm curious, using their own "fucking eyes" , who thinks Fedor looks like he's at a size disadvantage to Nog:

    <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/xovv7ZlEg3k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

See to me, it doesn't LOOK like a size advantage for Nog. It might just be my eyes. But for those that don't rely on their eyes, Fedor actually out weighed Nog in that fight as well. Just saying.

True, I thought you're post meant you thought Fedor was ALWAYS the smaller guy in his fights.

But regarding him being one of the smaller legit HW's in the sport, I'm not sure I understand that. Randleman and Coleman were UFC HW Champs and they were both SMALLER than Fedor. I don't consider them top 10 in history but they were legit and contemporaries of Fedor.

Trpl,i too watched those fights as they in haapened in fact i counted down the days for every PRIDE event. Again you have to read this whole thread. TLC started talking anput size difference between reem and bones. I said size is irrelevant at HW and fedor was the first example that came to mind. A truly small HW is Randy whom ive met several times and dude isnt big at all. His size, height and weight were never a disadvantage cuz hes badass. I concede fedor is not smallest HW ever. Im just saying that size difference in HW means very very little.

I hope that explains it better

Coleman was not smaller than Fedor. Coleman cut down to fight at LHW. He was an inch taller than Fedor and fought as high as 245.

  28. Bob N Weave

Ok??? And???? He is among them as one of the smaller HW's in the sport.
It's really simple. 6' and 225-230 and chubby is a small heavyweight in MMA. Period. Most fighters with his build go to LHW.

Yes, you can see Nog has more of a heavyweight frame than Fedor.

And regarding weight, James Toney in his most recent fight weighed about 10 pounds more than Vitali.

Tell me Trpl, who is bigger out of the two?

    Exactly, it is that simple.

Is he a tiny heavyweight or one of the smallest ever? No of course not, but frame wise, the guy is basically a light heavy.
