What movies do you think are underrated?

For me here are a few:

Collateral-Tom Cruise was pretty bad ass in this one and Jamie Foxx was solid as well.

Appaloosa-one of my favorite movies. It's a very good Western and good film in general.

The Great White Hype--I never understood why people didn't catch on to this movie. It's one of the best comedies I have ever seen.

Hardcore boxing fans like us understand more of the jokes and humor.

I personally found Undisputed to be an entertaining boxing flick, and I liked some of the script. The old man talking about boxing shows how the screenwriter probably had a real appreciation and knowledge of the sport.

Where as with Million Dollar Baby, well of course it's a better acted and made movie than something like Undisputed or GWH, but I get the impression that the writer of MDB doesn't really know that much about the sport.

One almost no one has heard of, despite having a cast featuring two Oscar-winners & an Academy Awar nominee (all future at the time, of course). I loved this movie...

Quite liked that one myself, & since it has virtually no reputation of note, it definitely qualifies. I really enjoyed it.

It gets mentioned once in a while, but not nearly enough. Easily one of the best films of the last ten years.

I hated Collateral. And I really wanted to like it.

Did like the other two movies listed.

lol, a radio dj was just talking about that equiloibrium movie.

Joy Ride- I thought this was an excellent road thriller/suspense movie, I've seen it afew times.

Red Rock West- same director as Joy Ride, stars Nick Cage and Dennis Hopper. Good thriller with mny twists.

One False Move- another low key thriller, stars BB thornton and Bill Paxton about a pair of violent criminals and a small town sherriff and 2 FBI agent trying to bring them down.

Almost Salinas. Never heard of it? That's because it is under-rated.

he was talking about his website where he lists the ten best fake martial arts, and apparently that movie's martial art is one of them. Bullet kata or something.

Sphere. Great performance by Samuel L. Jackson. Whole movie was under-rated, IMO. Not a patch on the book, to be fair, but that was one fascinating subject Chrichton dove into.

Good call. That's one I often get sucked into watching when it's on...which isn't as frequently as it used to be.

Find Me Guilty - Based on a true story where Vin Diesel plays a mob guy on trial. Awesome performance by Diesel and truly underrated and mostly missed performance by the masses. Check this one out, especially if you like court room type dramas.

I'd also add.... The Quick And The Dead.

By no means a "great" Western, but a highly entertaining one! And an all star cast of Gene Hackman, Sharon Stone, and Dicaprio and Crowe before they became stars.

Gene Hackman plays the vilian role brilliantly in this one.

Yet its a movie that NEVER gets mentioned. It has high rewatchability.

Back To The Future III & The Quick & The Dead are very solid shouts.

Predator II & Alien III, both heavily lambasted, I thought were quite solid & are definitely under-sold.

I thought Intermission was a pretty good movie that doesn't get talked about much.

I never bothered to watch it, just clips of it. J-Lo doing yoga and talking about why a woman's body is so great was pretty hot to me.

Anyone like Mr. Brooks as much as I did? I thought it was brilliant. Great cast too.

Yeah Kevin Costner sometimes surprises you with his performances. Not often tho. Lets see how he does as Jonathan Kent.

You're welcome. It is amazing how obscure it is. A lot of these films experience a kind of second-coming when their cast find mainstream fame (as Witherspoon, & more recently Brolin & Howard have), but not this one, interestingly. Always has been a favourite of mine, & backed up by a stellar soundtrack from Craig Armstrong.

Along the lines of little-known films with big names involved, The Big Empty is quite under-rated. Jon Favreau (good actor, great writer. Responsible for Swingers), Adam Beach, Rachael Leigh-Cook, Kelsey Grammer, Darryl Hannah, & the amusingly sinister Sean Bean. Good flick.
