It is on the Showtime Froch-Johnson card in Atlantic City.

Erdei is one hell of a fighter, and it should be one hell of a fight.

    Predictions and opinions?

Please keep it professional and clean as your responses are encouraged. here.

    Thanks,

    Karl

I hope Henry is ready for the fight of his life.

The guy is not 32-0 for nothing, and IMO is an excellent and very well-conditioned fighter.

Erdei needs a soft touch, nothing wrong with that

What do you think, Karl? Is Henry in fighting shape? He hasn't been active lately. Does he have a good shot?

Erdei hasn't exactly done much lately himself.

Why hasn't Henry fought for over a year?

And what makes the little Hungarian such a world beater? Who has he beaten?

Though I haven't seen either fight, Erdei only managed a SD and MD over a guy that Henry has since KO'd in 1 round.

Erdei was a talented but lazy fighter who suffered from the DM syndrome of allowing his talent to be frittered away over the years.

Dariusz was the undisputed champ. Erdei was just a beltholder.

Well this will be Erdei's first performance ever on American tv. I only saw him fight on the under card of Vlad/Mercer in Atlantic City 8 or so years ago.

I have seen Erdei since the amateurs, and he has always impressed me as he medaled in the same Olympics Rocky did.

Henry will be in fighting shape and ready, as he always is come bout time.

I have not analyzed the fight yet and have not had an opportunity to see Chris, either.

Henry begins sparring next week, so I'll go over to the gym and see him in a couple to three weeks.

I just started watching Erdei last night at length, and he is a very fine boxer.

He is also 36 years old, and has squandered a lot of his career away as you indicated through inactivity.

If you look at their respective physiques, it is Erdei who is soft around the middle.

please, Erdei has fought soft touch for nearly all of his carree. He's the definition of protected, right next to Felix Sturm. Maybe he'll beat Henry, but Henry is far more of a man than Erdei will ever be.

And he only won a SD vs Tito Mendoza, was pratically even with Mehdi Sahoune before the ko in the 12th and only won a MD vs ordinary FRagomeni ( yeah yeah it was a CW ), and all in the comfort of Geramany, wich means he'd probably have lost more than 1 to this murderer's row had the fight been in neutral territory.

Yeah that's true, and Tito Mendoza isn't exactly a world beater himself. I first watched him years ago on Eurosport.

Though I've only seen clips of Erdei, he looks nothing special, and his resume is actually pretty dire considering how long he's been around.

I wouldn't be remotely surprised if Henry won.

Sorry I forgot that: Henry had management issues and shot two movies in Italy, but has been working out he says.

He hit the irons big time as he played the heavy, but I don't think he trained for boxing, but he did run.

    1. Erdei clearly won the Mendoza fight. Mendoza stunned him once and that was it.

    2. Erdei was sick in the Sahnoune fight and on the verge of being stopped in the 5th and 6th round. I was already getting excited, but then he found a second wind and pulled a KO out of his ass.

    3. Erdei had a serious size and weight disadvantage against Fragomeni, although Fragomeni is a smallish cruiserweight. That was a great slugfest, and nothing wrong with that decision either.

    4. Erdei mostly fought crap opposition, but the only decision/s that shouldn´t have gone his way were against Garay.

    5. There are question marks about Erdei´s stamina and chin, but really not about his heart, similar to Wlad. He has struggled with injuries late in his career, and not really looked like he can still go a hard 12 rounds with a young guy that can punch. In his prime Erdei would have outboxed Henry, now Henry for all his shortcomings will probably win by KO.

It seems a winnable fight for Henry on paper, good luck to him, hope he wins. Beating Erdei would really put him in the mix in the division.

I'm not sure how Henry will deal with Erdei's counter punching though, I don't think he can win a boxing match, at all. If he comes in prepared to maintain a high pace and force a fight, rough Zsolt up he might well have caught a good champ at the right time though.

All fighters come down in weight for fights.

All fighters have to make weight.

He's not coming back down from anything, he fights at light heavyweight.

Erdei is the one coming down, he used to be a cruiser.

Erdei didn't move up very far though. I don't remember him weighing much above the LHW limit for the Fragemoni fight, who had something like 20 lb. on him. As El T mentioned, Erdei actually looked very good in that fight, and IMO probably his best performance since Michalczewski.

Plus, Erdei took a tuneup last year @ LHW in his first fight for DiBella. It was on the Martinez/Williams II undercard in Atlantic City, I think - whatever card it was, he and Fernando Guerrero were its only two fighters to sell any tickets.

I didn't see that fight, but if he has anything left, he should be able to take this one. Not a knock on Henry, but I just don't like his chances coming in cold after what will be a 14-month layoff.

Jake, he's actually talking about Henry.

Even though Henry hasn't fought above 175, what Hut means is he bulked up to play a heavyweight for a film, and now has to resume his normal fighting weight.

Ah my bad, I misread. If that's the case, then I like Erdei's chances even more.

I think Hut's comment was in regards to Henry. Like you, I thought Erdei looked decent against fragomeni, although he was def. undersized, he is no cruiser. Its a little hard to gauge but I would bet that a rusty Henry will lose a boxing match due to off timing and taking too long to get started.
