http://www.cyberboxingzone.com/blog/?p=8697 There is a young man in Houston named Marcus Johnson that beats all these guys at Super Middleweight. He was the featured fighter last week at the grand opening, and is built like a young Emile Griffith, but bigger. He headlines SHOBOX Friday night, and the kid has abs like steel, he just toyed with Alfonso Lopez in sparring, Kelly Pavlik's next opponent. REED did a piece on him here several years back, and I'd like to get your input on him, particularly Andrew's as Bute is from Canada and is in Johnson's radar sights.
It's funny, for all of the bickering that was done by several super middleweights during the inception of the Super Six tournament, a fighter like Marcus Johnson is exactly the type that BENEFITS from most of the best being contractually locked up for so long. Johnson will be a great talent once his time comes. That time is not yet and thankfully his handlers recognize that. He's being brought along nicely and is a year or so away from being ready to challenge the best - at which point the Super Six will (hopefully) conclude and there will be plenty for him from which to choose. Edwin Rodriguez is one of my favorite prospects - a collision course between these two seems inevitable and will serve as the type of fight that defines the future of the SMW division.
Steve Kim says it looks like the next fight for Bute will be against Mendy, not Kessler, which could be on July 9th and not on Showtime (ESPN3?, Epix?). http://www.maxboxing.com/news/main-lead/with-focus-and-clarity-katsidis-faces-guerrero

Classic Kim, talking up a face-first bum. A nice, safe, face-first bum who is unlikely to upset any of the precious West-Coast orange-carts. Yis Suh, No Suh, Tanka Very Much Suh!!

So this is talking up Mendy? http://www.maxboxing.com/news/main-lead/with-focus-and-clarity-katsidis-faces-guerrero
No he is talking up Kat. If Mendy cannot get rid of Bute, then he is a bum too, but lets not rush, lets see how that pans out, then we can affirm his bum status or elevate him to pfp status, depending on what way that cookie crumbles.
Showtime is a total fuckin failure. They pay Bute more money to fight Mendy and Magee than they paid the Super Six participants. Disgusting. :shit:
Yeah, you shouldn't be posting ANY Maxboxing shit anywhere. Then again its pretty obvious you like getting the word out, for your own purposes, of course. Of course. :: You should change your name to MitchSHILL Cain.
It does make you groan though, apologies for just skimming it but it sounds like his promoters going to the cash machine one more time before having him face a proper test..wouldn't be surprised if he picks up an injury which pushes the Kessler fight into 2012, Bute must be Romanian for Calzaghe
Calzaghe never fought nobody. Bute fought Bika a short while after Calzaghe did. Calzaghe fought Bika immediately after he did Lacy. Ward fought Bika after both Calzaghe and Bute had done so. All 3 men fought Bika to a decision win. Ironically, we now see Bika as being Super 6 material, or close to it. Bute is a fine fighter but he needs to step it up soon, smashing Ward would be a good start.
You think he'll bip Ward?... :tick: I've only ever had 1 dream about boxing, about 4 years ago,.. it was Bute verses Kessler,..and Kessler knocked him out cold in the 3rd, that's as good as tip as any I guess,.. like backing a winking race horse. Keep it in your pocket,.. like the 'Attacked by kangaroo' link, of which Ramonza came to Paul Briggs defence.
He got beaten up and has no one to blame but himself for his lackadaisical performance. He just blew some potential very big paydays with that non-effort, and he looked like he was sleepwalking in there getting dropped by a fighter that is not a puncher. I can't figure how someone that took the best bombs of Andre Ward and Chris Henry without going anywhere can be decked by a soft puncher like that. Just a waste of talent.
