And his big thighs and fore-arms.

All he needs now is a win over James Page and we can open the books for him in the pfp discussion.

He spent too long feeling out Ishida San.

While REED was NEVER Terribly High on Kirkland, it's Shocking to See him Get Worked like THAT, by a Fairly OBSCURE Opponent...& for him to Say he was "Never Hurt" in the Aftermath is the Funniest Shit REED's Heard All Week...

I dont think Kirkland will ever recover from this. Ishida proved that he's simply not an HBO/Showtime level fighter.

    He's ESPN2 at best.

And while Lemeuix was also exposed, the future isnt quite as bleak for him considering he's only 21. Plus, he wasnt dusted in 1 round.

Funny U Say That, Because REED Always Compared Kirkland to Julian Letterlough...

I think Letterlough was a shade above James, on account of how Letterlough could reallypunch

Kirkland is a used-to-be well conditioned attrition-brawler whose famed conditioning has been eroded significantly by jail-time and the interruption of a once-fruitful and stable relationship with Pops and Anne Wolfe.

Stability and routine are underrated. Fritz Sdunek is not a premiere trainer, but when the guy already knows how to fight and just needs reminding and encouragement, then that stability and routine can pay dividends.

I think Kirkland missed that routine. Its hard to put muscles on a chin but if Kirkland is prepared to go back to the old slog with Wolfe and Pops- or more importantly, if they accept his ass back, then he might get back into title contention.

That said the specter of the once vaunted James Kirkland being laid out by a supposed non-puncher will be hard to shake off.

Letterlough was a bigger puncher, and took a better punch.

I saw several fighters get off the floor to beat Julian.

My very same thought to a tee!!! I was never impressed with him as a skilled world class talent. Moreover, for a guy with over 140 amateur fights, where is the skill to show for it???

At least Julian Letterlough was just a hard punching brute with toughness but very little talent and a prison fight amateur background; not to mention, one arm was longer than the other!

Pops was Actually a Part of Kirkland's Team Last Night...Not Sure if he was the HEAD Trainer or Whatever, but Pops was Definitely There During the Intro's....

I saw him, he seemed tangential, is James still down in Texas? Where has he lived since he got out of prison?

Yeah well, he could do with adding some "slickness" to that, it might help him no end.

It was embarrassing of course, but not a devastating loss. It's not like he took a sustained beating through 12 rounds. He will recover. He ain't anything special but this is not a career crippling loss.

:nana: Subject revision on my behalf, 'inner city' , the way one would casually address the trivia inside a fantale wrapper, "ahhh, I know this one, I know this one",.. read it in the 'Irish confines' textbook.

Kirkland looked pretty bad more than anything. I think the slammer took alot out of him.

Cortez got in a nice knee on Kirkland at the end there. Just to cement his stoppage. What a douche.
