It's true El, I feel annoyed with myself. I'm sure you've noticed for at least a couple of years I've been saying Lopez is one of the most overrated fighters in the sport. And Salido CAN fight, and is tough. I was considering going all in on Salido, but I was worried about my stupid points, playing it safe, plus in all honesty I started to doubt myself seeing as pretty much EVERYONE else was picking Lopez, and I started to think fuck, maybe he's better than I give him credit for, maybe I'm just a Lopez hater.
But yeah, it does serve Arum right. Fucking retarded to be honest to let a fight like this "brew" etc, when the truth is Lopez isn't even good enough to beat someone like Salido. He barely beat Mtagwa. Gamboa would crush Lopez within 4 rounds, but now it's kind of pointless, because everyone knows Lopez is as overrated as I've been saying all along. He wouldn't even get much credit for it.
Bradley is shit Khan will smash Bradley up! Bradley is a dirty cheating bastard, he puts off his opponent by head butting through the whole of the fight. Khan will just stay on the outside and win every round:fightme:
Nah it´s all good. I assume everybody picked Lopez? Or do we need a ruling before the pisstest comes back positive? :crafty:
Yeah I think everybody picked Lopez, quickly do the post edit time pisstest to see if there are any Salido picks :: To be honest, this is the first week I haven't really enjoyed the prediction league. Simply because like in betting sometimes, I feel I cheated myself out of good picks by playing it safe, and not risking points (money). If there had been no points (money) on the line, I would have definitely picked Salido, and I MIGHT have picked Ortiz too (but maybe not, like I said before the fight, I knew he was the better fighter, but it's Ortiz's mentality that swayed me towards picking Berto).
John looks average against Yordan. He was overrated before he had dengue fever. Now he´s just a loss waiting to happen. If Arum is smart he throws some money toward John. I think Gamboa blows through him.
I actually completely forgot about that fight. I almost picked Yordan, because I think he's a decent fighter, and I agree John is pretty overrated (based on robbing Marquez perhaps). What is dengue fever? First I've heard of it.
Its a pretty vicious disease spread by moskeeters. Hut needs to introduce a new category....."Below-Par Loss Via Dengue".
well if you watched the fight, you would of seen that it wasnt khan trying to push his head in, it was Paul McCloskey. so you can not blame khan for that and bradley intentionally does it every fight, not just two out of six.
i agree that it was an early stoppage. lopez was swinging back and though he hadnt exhibited the ability to hurt salido (few have) he was still in the fight
Immediate rematch which Lopez would win....... Lopez is a dumb fighter....if he just implements a real/consistent jab and box a bit more he would win these fight much easier.... I'M HAPPY he got beat...punk bitch was going for a rematch vs. Marquez...WHY? and them moving up to 130..again WHY? He hasn't fought the TOP guys at 126 yet...
Oh come on man, can you blame him? He is merely following in the footsteps of a whole pile of other fighters. Ortiz is probably #2 at WW now and he got ran out of 140.
After the Penalosa fight, I was thinking Juanma was probably a top 5 p4p guy. Absolutely incredible stamina in that fight. And he is a huge puncher. Then you have the Mtagwa fight and it is time to retreat. But he has 3 nice wins in a row where he shows good power and decent stamina. This fight was all about Salido. He got really good leading up to JMM. He got really good after JMM. He was superb vs Guerrero and then we learn why. He's been good since. But this performance against Juanma was superb. He was every bit as good as the Guerrero fight and probably better. But he was only so-so against Cristobal Cruz and Gamboa. Even if he doesn't get caught, I think he was unnaturally good against Juanma. This is not the guy who goes even with Cristobal Cruz. Juanma didn't even really look like a puncher because Salido took them so well. If you look to the easiest explanation, Salido was on something. Some will go with the Juanma was distracted...whatever...I thought he looked just fine in the ring...so did Guerrero...but they were up against a fighter who didn't react like everyone else does against them.
Agreed. Juanma is a very dumb fighter with horrible defense. He needed to be humbled. He has much to learn. I always knew he was gonna get ko'd. I called it here many times.
:: :: Absolutely absurd. He's NEVER looked like a top 5 guy, not even close. He's an average world level guy and nothing more. He's only looked as good as his hype against Ponce, and well, that was Ponce. :: at him being a huge puncher too. He's not a huge puncher, he's heavy handed, like Cotto.
:::: Monday morning qb. :: ha ha Strikes again. :: ha ha In the same thread. :: ha ha 30-0 (27) implies strongly a huge puncher. Watching him take out guys shows him to be a huge puncher. He isn't really fast. He doesn't get volume punch ko's. He doesn't get stamina ko's. Objectively: 10 1st round ko's. 3 in title fights. 1 in a regional title fight. 8-1(7) in title fights. Of his 31 opponents, he has taken out like 16 of them sooner than anyone else. Of his distance fights, only one seems like a guy who he should have taken out (Gilbert Bolanos). Everyone else---Mtagwa, Mendez, Salido...these are all tough guys who don't get ko'd easily.
Freitas had almost a 100% KO ratio, yet wasn't a 1 punch KO guy at world level, or a "huge" puncher. Lopez is heavy handed like Cotto, nothing more. The reason he has a lot of KO's is because he is aggressive and fairly reckless, like Freitas. He is not a huge puncher. Gamboa hits significantly harder.
Please Freitas seriously fucked up good fighters like Alexandrov and Jauregui in one round. Nohting reckless about it. Fighters that have never been stopped before the 8th round in any other fight in their career. He hit Barrios so hard at the end of the 11th round that he wobbled out of his corner for the 12th. At 130 Freitas had concussive power.
