OK, for the diehards, don't forget about this one. Bellator's Bantamweight and Featherweight Champions are in action. Also, both Featherweight Tournament Semi Final bouts are on the card. This includes the rematch between Wilson Reis and Patricio Freire. The first match in last year's tourney was a good scrap in which Pitbull took a UD. Hey Trpl, I'm all over it like flies on dog shit. Are we predicting this or purely watching for the sake of our own enjoyment?
This is for fun only brother. I learned the hard way that many don't follow the Bellator guys too closely.
He's too cocky for an average MMA fighter. He should have lost last night and he's acting like he just beat Jose Aldo. I cannot believe one judge gave him all 3 rounds. I know his wrestling pedigree, but he is on my top 5 list of MMA fighters I dislike the most. Here's a douche bag that was the favorite to win Greco-Roman gold at the Bejing Olympics but couldn't give up marijuana long enough to pass drug test. He ended up NOT participating due to failing 2 drug test. It pissed me off then and even more now because the dude will likely make the 2012 team..
Bellator Featherweight Champion Joe Warren Wins Via Controversial Decision in Non-Title Fight Bellator Fighting Championships returned to action last Saturday night in Yuma, Arizona with a card featuring two Bellator champions participating in non-title fights. Also on the card were the semifinal bouts from Bellator’s season four featherweight tournament. In the main event, Bellator’s reigning Featherweight Champion, Joe Warren, narrowly escaped defeat by pulling out a controversial decision over Shooto veteran, Marcos Galvão. Warren, a former Greco-Roman wrestling world champion, was ineffective with his grappling and take down attempts in the first two rounds before finally having wrestling success in the final 5 minutes. Most in attendance booed mightily as the decision was announced. The other Bellator champion in action, bantamweight titleholder Zach Makovsky, had comparatively little problem in dispatching Bellator newcomer Chad Robichaux. Makovsky, a former Division 1 wrestler and Elite XC fighter, used his wrestling advantage to control most of the fight before stopping Robichaux via TKO midway through the 3rd round. The first of Bellator’s Featherweight Tournament fights featured one of MMA’s most promising prospects in Brazilian Patricio “Pitbull” Freire. Freire, a Jiu-Jitsu blackbelt, advanced to the tournament final by knocking out fellow Brazilian Wilson Reis with a barrage of unanswered punches along the cage that left Reis collapsed in a motionless heap on the canvas. i doubt warren will make the olympic squad next year. joe betterman will beat him in the olympic trials if warren even makes it to the final. ben askren met a similar fate after he started doing mma. he wrestled in the 08 olympics (and lost in the 2nd round i think) and he placed 5th or so in the world team trials last year. i think he's done wrestling though. regardless, even if warren makes the team, he won't medal. aside from that teenage kid winning the gold in bejing, U.S. wrestling program hasn't had much success in the olympics in either freestyle or greco.
