Idea from another thread. (sly quoting Hut on Pac vs Mayweather)

Even if you agree or don't agree that it would be the case, what other fights do you think fit?

    Leonard-Hearns?

Leonard-Hearns is the best example. Save for Ray Robinson(who not many have seen at 147) they were the most talented welters in history, and both undefeated and in thier primes.

And although the following fights were one sided, two others that come to mind... Sanchez-Gomez, Jones-Toney.

A few notches down i think you could add De La Hoya - Whitaker

If weight classes are excluded, then Clay-Moore must rank high. Ketchel-Johnson probably too

    He had talent?

    He had the B&W talent.

Similar examples could be Holmes-Spinks, Louis-Conn and Ali-Foster

I think the spirit of the thread should factor in talent at the weight class. And at the time of the fight.

I was watching Armstrong/Ross, those were two talented guys.

What was the deal with that lunging jab from the knee area Armstrong was using against Ross? It was pretty freaking awkward but got results!

I guess that's subjective, because I don't quite see it that way, but I can understand the sentiment.

Looking at it regardless of timing, I can think of no greater example (& I haven't seen one in this thread yet to change my mind) than Robinson-Armstrong. That just has to be the winner, IMO.

I was wondering when I clicked if this was going to include the referee as well. I would've said Ali-Liston (Walcott) had that been the case, though admittedly just off the top of my head.

Was that Holyfield-Foreman I'm thinking of, or another bout?

Foreman-Norton-Ali-Louis, also (Foreman-Norton). Bonavena also entered the ring, I believe.

Did you mean the first fight, when each were in better shape as fighters?

Personally, I would call Hopkins more skilled & ring intelligent than talented. Jones, the reverse.
