I disagree. Its the perfect place for it. Especially one this significant. Royce put the UFC on the map. A bjj exhibition would be terrific. It would show exactly what Brazil is all about with regards to MMA.

Now i am talking strickly a bJJ match. That means no striking. Just the ground game. It would really pay great tribute to Brazil and BJJ. And no im not talking art Jimmerman or even severn. Someone equal to Royce with BJJ. And of course it be in addition to the whole card, not replacing someone on the card.

Also the fact that its in brazil, you wont hear the boos from a full on ground game. You will hear great cheers.

If it was 1994 or 1995, I think it would be a close fight. Both guys brought similar skills into the octagon. I think Hackney's wrestling might actually have made a difference back then. But as you know, Smith evolved somewhat as a fighter and would kill Hackney today I think.

Hell, I might be changing my tune a bit. I am suddenly kind of interested in a 45-50 year old tournament involving guys that participated in the early UFC events.

We might have to adjust the age requirements to let guys like Severn or Oleg compete.

So you honestly think the UFC should broadcast a BJJ match involving Royce Gracie on a PPV card.

I couldn't disagree any STRONGER. First, Royce is no longer relevant in the world or MMA or BJJ. All an exhibition would show is how even the average MMA athlete today has Jiu-Jitsu that could match Royce from the early UFC days.

Second, what next, a UFC Event in Iowa with a wrestling only match between Coleman and Severn? Or maybe a fake Pro Wrestling match on a UFC PPV featuring Ken Shamrock and Severn?

No, like I said, honor Royce by giving him a plaque before the main event to let the crowd appreciate an MMA pioneer.

How would it show that the average athlete could match Royce? This is a BJJ match. Royce beats almost everyone in the UFC today in just a BJJ match. MMA is what outgrew Royce. He is still a top notch BJJ master.

Again there is a difference between a Match that would be a disgrace and an exhibition that would honor the sport and brazil.

No Gi? Not a chance. He's old, not active, and he's no longer suprising people with stuff they haven't seen.

You guys just dont get it. Either dont get it or are not listening.

    A BJJ exhibition.

That means GI. that means traditional BJJ match. Something im sure that Royce has been very active in. And i also talking about another BJJ legend. Doesnt have to be someone on the current roster. In fact, i wish it wasnt. Someone in the BJJ game that currently isnt in MMA. Hell a BJJ match between him and Rickson would be nice.

Again, Im talking about a show match. A Match that just displays the art of BJJ in front of a Brazil crowed out of respect for what started MMA.

The fight would even start on the knees. No standing. Traditional BJJ.

Its not a real match. Its just a showcase. There is nothing disrespectful or disgusting about that.

True. Having fun in a cage fighting forum has been off-limits ever since.
