Abysmal distance fights that included a KD

Name some horrid matches that a KD occurred but went the distance

 

Wlad-Ibragimov

 

I wouldn't call it "abysmal" but Hatton-Collazo was pretty shitty, especially after a promising start.

 

Holyfield Moorer 1

 

Hopkins-Allen (the one before the DLH fight)

 

Klitschko-Ibragimov was the first to come to mind.

Mayweather-Vargas was a pretty dull fight that had a KD on a beautiful body shot by Floyd.

Hopkins-Allen 3 was terrible.

 

Not sure if Green-Joppy I qualifies. Was great for about three rounds, including a Round of the Year candidate, but quickly turned to shit once Joppy broke his hand around the 4th or 5th round.

A trio of Whitaker fights - JC Vazquez, McGirt II and DLH.

Norwood-Marquez

Ruiz-Golota (save for Stoney's antics, including getting tossed out)

 

McGirt 2 was a good fight.

 

It was? Maybe I need to watch it again. I thought I remember it being a stinker, and McGirt making more excuses for why he lost again.

 

There was no official knockdown in the Ibragimov fight.

 

Some might disagree, but the fight that came to mind here was DLH-Quartey. About 3 30 seconds moments of action and 34 minutes of posing.

 

Yep....lots of flat, dead spots in that.

Yeah, it was a pretty good fight. Nice exchanges, with Whitaker being more offensive than usual and throwing some terrific combinations.

I can't think of any fight more overrated than De La Hoya-Quartey, except for maybe Holyfield-Tyson 1, which was decent but a horrible choice for 1996's FOTY.

Oscar and Ike spent most of the fight staring at each other, and doing little. Not a terrific chessmatch where one guy makes a mistake and the other makes him pay, but a pose-match.

 

There needs to be a "worst Lampley cheerleading/hyperbole moments" thread. Most of it would involve De La Hoya, though there are many other notable moments ("BANG! BANG! BANG!" comes to mind).

 

Barrera too. A lot of Lampley's cheerleading, I think he was just being an HBO guy.

With Barrera, Lampley had a huge man-crush on him.

Leonard-Hearns 1 is kinda overrated too. Great drama and skill level, but action level was blah.

Good fight and all, but not FOTY material. Lee-Locicero was better
