I thought Shane beat Oscar twice? Aren't Vargas,Margarito, and Mayorga elite fighters as well? He beat all of them.

Are you really, genuinely entertaining the idea that the versions of Vargas, Plasterito and Mayo that Mosley fought were elite fighters? Fucking come on.

Also, even at the time I thought Oscar won that rematch, and I prefer Shane by a fucking mile.

 

If you are hyping up Forrest, Winky and Cotto as elite fighters, then yeah.

 

Those guys were ELITE.....the version of Vargas and Mayorga that fought MOSLEY were NOT ELITE or in their PRIMEs....

Margarito was ELITE and PRIME....

 

Forrest was elite based off of beating Mosley(then got KO'd in his next fight) and so was Wright.

 

We're on opposite ends of this one... and not so much on the possiblity that Pacquaio beats Wright - I do think it's possible - but on pretty much everything else. ::

I think Wright was a much better fighter than Sergio Martinez. And I also think he was much better than Miguel Cotto. And his being bigger can't be dismissed. In the real world, Wright was a much more formidable foe than Cotto.

I'm going to pretend you didn't compare Wright to Josh Clottey. ::

 

I agree.

 

Wright was a basic fighter Steve, not unlike Clottey. That closed, tight guard, counterpunching (and jabbing) style. He's just a lot more active and a lot better, but stylistically they are similar.

He was just very good and solid, a borderline elite fighter for sure, but on the lower end of the scale.

I don't see what's so special about Wright to be honest. Take away Tito and Shane, his record is nothing special.

I would favour Martinez over him at 154 or 160 without hesitation.

I actually thought Vargas beat Wright in a close fight, pulled it out in the championship rounds.

Martinez would have beaten everyone Winky has faced apart from Hopkins.

 

I agree. Too much fire-power for Cotto to deal with.

 

Wright is much better than Clottey. Clottey has beaten nobody and choked in every big fight hes ever been in. Its been over a year since his fight with Pac and nobody is interested in seeing him fight again.

Wright beat elite competition and is better in everyway than Clottey.

Clottey is a horrible, negative fighter. I don't like him, and yes, he's not as good as Wright. But there are stylistic similarities, I didn't say he was as good as Wright.

Try reading the bit that says Winky is "a lot better". ::
