I can't decide. Does anyone else come close to these two? Foster, Louis? Say things to me.

Reason i went with Shavers is he faced a lot of great fighters, many of them with tremendous chins. You can rarely get an honest answer from fighters when it comes to the question of "who hit them the hardest" but it seems pretty unanimous for anybody who went up against Shavers.

That's fair. I always have a hard time comparing heavyweights to other fighters in terms of pure power.

Agreed, comparing heavyweights to any class below is difficult in just about any criteria.

I still remember the Tex Cobb quote cdogg posted here before:

"No-one hits as hard as Shavers. If there was a fighter that hit harder than Shavers, I shoot him!"

    Another gem:

"I don't think his hands could take the abuse." (On a possible rematch with Holmes).

I wish Tex Cobb was still around now, to go the distance with these bums

Ah good old Tex Cobb- the archetypal white heavyweight- undersized, no speed, two left feet, slightly flabby, great chin, and absolutely no threat to anyone other than the sanity of his neuro-surgeon.

    Those were the days.

I went with Shavers. He could hurt anyone he could hit. Anyone.

Jackson was a brilliant pure puncher but its the sheer WOW of his KO's that attract attention.

Shavers just bludgeoned guys, dehumanized them.

I agree with Whisky- the HW element makes it hard to make a fair judgment.

Better to compare Julian Jackson to say...........Hurricane Carter or Nigel Benn.

Great poll Hut. I went with Shavers. But I would vote a light heavyweight Bob Foster over both of them.

I'd personally vote for the G-man over everyone.

Several men get up off the deck to kayo Shavers: Lyle, Holmes, Mercado, and Ron Stander.

No one ever got up off the floor to stop Jackson.

Good point. Jackson is also a better fighter.

On the other hand Shavers fought better opposition.

Shavers for just stupid ridiculous power... But Jackson got more out of hs gift because of better technique and timing

  24. I dunno what the question is (I'm assuming "who has more power P4P?") but whatever the question is...I pick Jackson.

  25. Yup and Naseem hamed.

I think Terry Norris might ONCE have gotten off the floor to stop somebody.....some guy called Waters.

I'm not sure if Herol Graham ever got off the floor to stop somebody either....maybe...no even Brewer eventually bombed him out.

Buster Drayton got off the floor to lose to Hilton.

So its not like Jacksons victims had a history of climbing off the floor to victory in those cases anyways.
