well, you have Mario and that's it

MAYBE Jagr... unless you want a guy who is always going to come to play, and not just dominate SOMETIMES

Jagr is probably on there. At his best, one of the best ever.

    this is key

remember, you have to take into consideration how well a player compliments or is complimented by the linemates you give him

Guess we'll just have to agree that mine is the undisputed greatest of all time list.

Mayweather by a slight margin. Pacquiao beat Ricky at his best weight and in more dominating fashion, but Ricky was undefeated going into the Floyd fight and presumably more confident.

After Lazcano hurt Ricky with those left hooks, I figured Ricky's punch resistance was diminished. He looked better against Malignaggi, but Paulie can't punch. Ricky's face still looked awful after that fight.

The Castillo fight and his calling out Floyd immediately afterward definitely helped build up that fight. But there was actually quite a bit between Tszyu and Castillo - namely three of his worst performances, pre-Floyd. He hardly looked good against Maussa (save for the highlight reel KO), Collazo or Urango - well, he dominated Urango, but in a painful fight to watch.

Floyds is way out in front. I never used to think that way but it is now obvious that Ricky's boozing and what-not was way out of control by 2009. Floyd beat Ricky in December 2007. By the time Ricky fought Pac in May of 2009, his drinking and coking had been underway for an additional 18 months.

Floyd beat him when he was undefeated. The Welter issue does count but it pales into insignificance when compared to the damage Hatton racked up between the start of the 1st round vs Floyd and the start of the 1st round vs Pac.

I dunno, Pac had Hatton, at his best weight, fighting for his life in round one and practically decapitated him in the next. Floyd cautiously took his time and had help from the turnbuckle, at a weight Hatton previously struggled against a limited Collazo. Hatton was ostensibly bigger or at least the same size as Pac at 140, where Floyd seemed clearly bigger than Ricky at 147.

    Pac for me.

Hatton's standard in ring weight weight as a JWW - 148

His weight that night - 148

    Floyd's standard weight as a JWW - 148

    His weight that night 148.

That's what matters, not what belt was on the line.

    'Word'

This is basically based on nothing. The only two intervening fights were dominant wins over decent opponents. Again, this is all perception based. We had seen him KO'd so he was more vulnerable in our minds, I see no evidence that he was actually a worse fighter by the time Pac got him.

You're probably right....so I go for how well, efficiently, clinically or brutally did each beat Hatton? Who dominated Hatton more and looked better doing it?

    Pac easy.

I'm sure Tyson would beat 95% of opponents more 'impressively' than Larry Holmes or Evander Holyfield on that basis. Not a good basis, IMO.

If Floyd was so scared of Margarito it made no sense as to why he fought Shane after he beat the brakes off of him.

Styles, fights.....there's a saying there somewhere, can't quite remember it.

(It was also 16 inactive months 'after', aged 39)

Floyd's win would be more impressive than it was if the ref hadn't screwed over Hatton so much in the first few rounds.

Pacq's win over Hatton was pretty much flawless.

  28. Margarito's style would be even easier for Floyd than Shane. Shane at least had fast hands and a semi-slick style. Margarito is a plodder with slow hands. Floyd woul dhave given him the Corrales treatment, minus the multiple KDs.

  29. flawless over damaged goods though. That's the main point that some of us are making.

  30. Hut*Hut

Margarito fights nothing like Corrales. Much more comparable to a taller, bigger Castillo.
