Nice job Trp, but a few changes need to be made. Better than 4 years = more than 4 years. Wrestling at the ago of 9 = wrestling at the age of 9.
By the way Punk, is that you in the red tshirt? Is that your first amateur MMA fight? If so, good job man, nice slam.
Steve Dave just reminded me of my college english proffessor:: He told me the EXACT same thing on a paper.:: Great piece Trpl, SD is right though.::
There is some strange "Type your comment here" that appears on top of the text in all articles I have looked at. Someone might want to fix this.
:: Holy shit. It's Mrs. Serano, my ENC 1101 Professor. I swear on my kids life, that is an exact quote from her. And that's literally from 20 years ago.
I don't think the weight cut will be much of an issue. Shields cut 20 pounds in day to make 170 against Kampmann. He was 180 last week apparently, so it seems like a decent cut. I will be shocked if GSP beats him easily.
Well, Shields has been a 170 pound fighter for most of his career. He's only actually had 2 fights at 185. The bouncing back and forth has never been good for fighters. It will be interesting to see how this goes.
You also have to keep in mind that I have only watched Shields once, his only UFC fight. :: That night, he was among the worst fighters I have ever seen.
The thing is, I scored his last fight with Kampmann a draw. It was a terrible performance. But when I read that he had to cut 20 pounds in the last 24-36 hours leading up to the fight, I was actually impressed with what he did. Kampmann is a good fighter that would beat a lot of top guys on their best night. The fact that an absolutely drained Shields was able to control Kampmann for most of the fight, is one of things that makes me think Shields has a chance on Saturday. It probably seems odd that a guy's worst performance is something to be impressed by. But I've seen so many fighters, Dan Henderson being one, that look absolutely horrible when they screw up their weight cut. So, yeah, Shields beating a guy as good as Kampmann with his worst performance is pretty impressive to me.
Fair enough. Makes sense. I won't be watching (covering for the girl that reads the news from 5am-onward on Sunday morning), but hopefully it's an exciting fight.
Not really. But I'm a young up and comer, so I have dedicated myself to being as flexible as possible at this stage of my career.
