This topic was inspired by the massive disappointment I felt when I found out (the day of the fight) that Agbeko/Mares had been cancelled. I've since figured out it had been cancelled for more than a week, but I didn't know, and so I'd spent all of Friday and Saturday in eager anticipation of what surely would've been a great fight. And as far as I know, it has not yet been rescheduled either, which leads me to believe it could even be one of those phony cancellations, either due to poor ticket sales, or a better opportunity.

Anyway, any fights stand out in your mind as particularly devastating when they were cancelled or postponed? It's never pleasant, but some were easier to take than others.

    Who??????????

Anyway...Tyson-Holyfield 1991, pre-prison. Nothing would ever be worst than that for me. I'm still in therapy over that fight.

Yep. Had tickets to that one too.:eek:ld: Also Vitaly vs Rahman since I had tickets to that.

Tyson/Holyfield has got to be the winner though.

weird to say it but i was really looking forward to Foreman vs. Holmes even tho both were pushing 50, they could both still fight.

also besides the ones mentioned... Golota v Mercer woulda been a treat

Uh, the final fight for supremacy in the single elimination bantam-weight tournament put on by Showtime!

The biggest mystery here is not who Agbeko or Mares is, but rather your willingness, as a supposed boxing fan, to expose the fact you don't know who either of those fighters are.

Was unavoidable, but Hopkins-Trinidad getting pushed back two weeks (obviously coupled with 9/11) sucked all of the emotion and anticipation surrounding the fight. Not saying it ever turns out any different, but the timing was unfortunate.

Pretty tough to top Holyfield-Tyson being delayed for five years... although the anticipation certainly didn't suffer.

Vitali-Rahman was disgraceful considering how far along they strung Rahman into believing the fight was going to happen. Even worse that he and King just wouldn't shut the fuck about it, before or after.
