The Karate Kid

So I was watching through some of the 2010 version of The Karate Kid (different titles in different countries) the other day. It seemed like a decent enough version of it, not as dated as the original so it seemed less cheesy.

However, it lacks the ever so corny-but-awesome "You're the Best" montage, and hilarious supporting characters like Tommy.

How did the remake compare with the original in your opinion?

 

Daniel in the third Karate Kid is quite possibly the most annoying and unlikable protagonist ever.

 

I enjoyed the new karate kid. Obviously not a patch on he original great film, but it has its moments. Some decent fighting scenes in the film and Jackie is a legend.

 

Nothing could match the original. I love that film to this day. I've never received chills like the ones I got when "Daniel-san" performed the Crane technique to win the tourney (Aprt from when Bruce Leroy got the glow)!

 

The new version is actually a bit better as a movie, but the thing is, the original was something new when it came and thus it is part of pop culture history while the new one is already forgotten. Also the basic idea of the movie (there is no trouble that violence can't solve) is even more silly now than it was back then

 

The 2010 version had it's moments...a bit too long in my opinion. The lil asian kids were brutal and the fight scenes were more violent that was good....Smith/asian girl/avoiding the bullies when on too long.....

But that last kick/winning point...was complete GARBAGE!!!!!!


The original was simple and perfect....

 

That film doesn't exist. As far as I'm concerned, Daniel hooked up with that nice piece from Karate Kid 2 and is still in Okinawa.

And if he isn't, let's just say he is.

 

Yeah they screwed him up bad in that film. He couldn't even get with the one girl after getting Elizabeth Shue and the Japanese dime.

Chozen was a great villain.

Worse movie Karate Kid III or Beverly Hills Cop III? ::

KK3 is probably a worse movie, but I can rewatch it and still laugh and be amused at how horrible it is. Watching Daniel get beat up is fun.

I don't think I've ever rewatched BHC3.

 

The Jayden Smith version is terrible! End of story.

 

Beverly Hills cop 3 was even worse. Why o why did you have to even remind me of it?

 

I like the other two chicks better....and by a lot..

 

REED Went in WANTING to HATE the Flick, but he Actually Came Away LIKING it...Moreso, in the Course of 1 Motion Picture, Jayden Smith Actually VALIDATED His Existence, in REED's Opinion...Initially, REED Thought Will & Jayda were SHAMELESSLY FORCING their Kid On the Masses, but Being TRUTHFUL, Jayden Actually has CHARISMA...

The Little Motherfucker Can Actually HOLD your Attention for Awhile...

Part three doesn't exist. However if it did (it didn't) then you'd probably find that he doesn't hook up with her thus negating a happy ending for Daniel.

Fortunately, since it didn't take place, we don't have to worry about it. :boring:

I remember the Hilary Swank version, but I don't remember Karate Kid III at all, looking at the clips.

Karate Kid three was utter utter shit.

I enjoyed part 2 though...GREAT SEQUEL to the first one.

 

The Swank version is Karate Kid III. Genius is correct, there has never been another movie that could be called that even though it has been wrongly reported in the past. Daniel LaRusso is still in Okinawa, living happily ever after

 

Who did Hilary Swank play in # 3. I don't remember her being in it at all. She certainly wasn't his girlfriend.

 

Hilary is the new Karate Kid whom Mr Miyagi coaches, she has pretty big role in the movie.

 

She wasn't in #3....she was the Karate CHICK in THE NEXT KARATE KID...
