Can't see it being cotto, as cotto has has his re-match with margarito due in september.

What has he done since the loss to Floyd?

Since ortiz fought in april and with floyd (apparently) wanting to fight in september, that gives ortiz 5 months. Sounds appealing, but maybe since berto lost to ortiz, maybe floyd would want a piece of andre.

Pac will probably be interested in Berto.

It's Pacquiao or NO-ONE now, so far as I am concerned with Mayweather Jr.

yup, first thing I thought as well when I read it.

Honestly, Floyd surfacing during Pac fight week is getting a bit old. Especially the part when he insists that he won't watch. Reminds me of when Darryl Strawberry would go out of his way to make headlines right around Opening Day in the first few years following his retirement.

  7. Either fight would be a good return fight. Ortiz makes more sense though IMO.

  8. Are you as rigid with Pacquiao?

    Yep, pretty pathetic.

  10. I do agree with the consensus though:

Floyd needs to fight or shut the fuck up!!

The onus to get something decent done rises when it's gonna be your 4th fight in 4 years 1/2 years. Manny will be lining up his tenth in that long by the time Floyd gets in there with Ortiz or Cotto.

I think drug-testing revisited is more than well worth another scepter knick,.. it causes more adrenaline than a superfight, both in the business and on the forums, a truth serum like no other .

I get the feeling he's over-rated now (Ortiz), having just beaten an average fighter at best who himself was clearly over-rated (Berto).

  14. What? Ortiz is a killer. He'd beat Cotto, Margarito and Pacquiao. The fact that Floyd is facing him proves the legend that Floyd is!! Deal with it Double L, Live with it!!

I suppose I feel Cotto gives Floyd a better fight due to his speed. Also better name recognition. Also would love to see how people react to Floyd fighting a former Pac opponent rather than the reverse.

I don't think Cotto is quicker than Ortiz, personally. He's a shorter more compact puncher, admittedly (but I think that's offset by his methodical predictability vs Floyd).

I think Floyd beats Cotto very easily. Ortiz is at least a slight wild card.

i think he is quicker than ortiz. floyd beats them both regardless

on a random sidenote i just remembered i had a dream last night taht Floyd rematched JMM and stopped him in the first round (similar to the manfredy stoppage). weird

ortiz fits the bill of a mayweather jr foe. talented guy coming off a career best victory. cotto not so much

Plus it'd really put a dent in Mayweather's 'left overs' spiel if he fought Cotto. Like I said right after Ortiz beat Berto - pretty sure he'll be next.

Cotto would probably lose to PBF but it'd be a much more competitive fight than his fight with Pacquiao. And Cotto is one of those guys who has the confidence to punch "with" his opponent, and that will be key to his having success, unlike Mosley, who simply wouldn't duke it out with PBF, but rather waited on him.

This of course is what got Cotto into trouble against Pacquiao - it was during exchanges that Cotto got hurt. But he needs to know that that's what it will take to get to PBF. Otherwise, PBF will just do whatever he wants like he did against Mosley.

PS somebody should tell Floyd that Dallas be for ending careers, not resuming them.

it was actually more of a manfredy style cornering with a tyson v m/frazier finish. true proof that it was not real i suppose

Both are good opponents imo. we can only hope there is a chance that pacquiao would be next

He won't fight Pacquiao and thats pretty much all there is to Mayweather at this point.

Nah...Victor Ortiz is safe enough...had that been Margarito or Cotto back in 2008-2009 beating someone like BERTO..then Mayweather would stay away.

    BUT Victor Ortiz is opponent...
