I don't expect him to be any worse than the Mosley Floyd faced. He's one year older but has far less ring rust.

No evidence in the Mora fight to think he's 'done'. Mora is always the type of guy he'd struggle with (especially at middleweight, effectively). He'd have beat him in his prime, but not impressively.

The suggestion you're making, that Pacquiao's performance against JMM compared to PBF's, is in any way an indication of which fighter is better, is entirely absurd and irresponsible.

It's also far reaching to attribute Pacquiao's success against Hatton and ODH to PBF's having beaten them first.

Hatton was knocked-out in the end by PBF, but it's not like he took a career-ending beating, which he proved by beating Urango and later Malignaggi.

And ODH? He nearly beat PBF, and absorbed very little punishment for his effort.

Let's also not forget that PBF faced Hatton at 147, where he'd already proven against Collazo was not a good weight-class for him.

That of course, was the case in Pacquiao vs. ODH, where ODH had no business fighting at 147.

Bottom line is, it's a waste of time and futile to try to assess who's better, Pacquiao or PBF, by looking at their performances against common opponents. It's simply not a meaningful indication.

People are talking about Shane's handspeed, but people are forgetting Pac's footspeed. I would love to be wrong, but the way I see it Shane really doesn't stand a chance in this fight.

Mosley is damn near 40 years old.

I can't see anything other than a whitewash for Pacquiao. Shane was chosen for a reason. He has nothing left except his rep.

If Pac's "biggest and toughest" opponent is a 40 year old Shane Mosley that doesn't speak well of his career.

Shane is one of the toughest fighters in boxing, how does Shane being his toughest (as in most durable) opponent not speak well of his career?

Shane is the "toughest" guy on a lot of people's resume's.

    at 40?

That's akin to Marciano knocking out a 38 year old Joe Louis or Holmes beating a 38 year old Muhammad Ali.

Those guys walked into the ring with their reputations and nothing else.

Fact is, the idea that Mosley will have been the toughest opponent on Pacquiao's resume is simply bullshit, dreamed up to promote the fight. Anyone believing this to be true is simply a sucker for the marketing of this event.

Let's not mix fact and promotion here. The minute we start allowing promotional head-lines and commercials to be even a factor in our debate, let alone a basis for a position on a topic, we'll have become sucker zombies. We know way too much about boxing for that to happen, if we pay attention.

Wow. You've just shot a thousand holes in my argument. What can I say? The logical basis of your response makes it indisputable. I have no counter-argument. None.

Your argument has already been destroyed a million times on this very forum in just the past couple of weeks. The fact that you argued it to begin with calls your intellect into question, both for the fact that the logic is flawed and the fact that you must have the attention span of a gnat to have missed everything you said repeatedly shredded to bits. The fact that you think Oscar could've won the fight with Floyd firmly cements your retardation amongst any reasonable individuals who know enough about boxing to be able to differentiate between a heavy bag and the purse you carry.

If PBF gets knocked for facing Hatton @147 then what about PBF fighting DLH at the weight they fought at? I'll Holla 5000

Try PCP. IT's the only explanation for Hex's flights of fancy recently.

Pac late TKO. Ref stops the bout around the 11th.

I WILL be laying down some cash on SM for a KO victory. Odds are too good to pass up. Even better for SM UD but I can't see that happening.

I don't want to make too much of the obvious specter of PED's that looms over this fight, but I think it factors into the outcome. When Shane is able to get that extra bit of help, he tends not only to look sharper but he does seem to have more endurance. As Shane ages he definitely folds earlier and earlier in difficult fights, the Mayweather fight being maybe 3 rounds of true effort in total out of a 12 round fight. One certainly has to wonder if an opponent as active & frustrating as Manny will provoke the same sort of thing.

But assuming Shane and Manny are both on their "A-game" supplement regimens, I would guess that this fight is going to be very competitive for the first 6-7 rounds, with Mosley having his moments. He will land some power shots, I don't see how Manny can avoid that. Halfway through I can even see Shane fans getting a glimmer of hope that he will indeed pull it out, but I think the last half of the fight becomes a sheerly volume effort for Manny who just ends up doing too much and wins a comfortable, but not terribly wide decision. 9-3, maybe 8-4, that sort of thing.

    Pac UD.

Because the talent pool is so shallow... The quality of the average contender is clearly inferior to previous decades...

You can get 99-1 on each of the 1st 6 rounds at Unibet and 90-1 at Paddy power. Truly mental.

On sportsinteraction a Mosley KO 12 is paying 126-1. Shane ALWAYS brings it in the 12th too.

    You're being far too negative.

Sure some of the contenders are fairly scrubby, but the Top 5 P4P could hang with pretty much any era.

Pacquiao, Donaire, Martinez, Floyd, Gamboa, Marquez etc etc.

    All brilliant fighters.

I think you're misunderstanding me Musze.

By tough I mean durable. You seem to think by toughest I mean best/toughest test.

Obviously I don't think that. This is no better a fight for Manny than it was for Floyd.

In all honestly, it was a better fight for Floyd to take at the time than it is for Manny now.

Because he was coming off the destruction of Plasterito?

I agree, he was certainly carrying more weight/rep.

He's the same fighter though, so ultimately it doesn't make much difference. It's not like he's way more shot a year down the line having taken minimal punishment.

Right. Just like Pacquiao would have been given much more credit for fighting him then than he is now.

I'm not so sure Shane is the same fighter. When you're getting up there in age a year and a couple of fights can mean a lot. Not saying you're wrong, just saying it's impossible to really gauge where he is in comparison to this time last year.
