I don't know why this movie got nominated for Best Picture. It was just another decent sports movie. It was actually one of the worst movies ever nominated for Best Picture IMO.

Anyone else here not like the way they made Michael Oher look like a semi-retard?

I heard Oher wasn't too pleased about the movie.

Was that nominated for Best Picture? :notallthere:

I saw it a couple weeks ago. Pretty average and forgettable movie.

Bullock won an Oscar for this crap. This movie was utter garbage.

I think I spotted Lawrence Taylor playing a drug thug for a split second.

I didn't bother scanning the credits, but pretty funny if true. The beginning of the movie was a homage to Taylor.

Meanwhile, later in the movie, all these old white college coaches get prominent cameos, while LT gets to be a gutter thug for a brief moment.

I don't think LT was in the movie, other than archived footage.

I didn't realize it was nominated for Best Picture. Didn't think it was on that level, although I apparently enjoyed the movie more than others here. Wasn't great, but something I'll watch if it's on.

I could have sworn I saw him near the end, when Oher goes back to the projects for the very last time.

Might have been uncredited. It was pretty brief. Maybe I just wanted to see LT in the movie.

Was that the one where a black guy is down and out from bad family and what not and is rescued by the benevolent white man?

i saw this movie on a plane and it's a good thing too because i had a vomit bag within reach.

bullock didn't deserve an oscar for that either... i am sure she acted exactly as she was told which is fine - but her character was so unrealistic.

from what i saw the character was a perfect woman. remarkably tolerant, surrounded by stress and terrible things happening all around her, and she never has a bad word just some southern sass and a heart of gold.

    like i said... vomit bag.

as Val Kilmer said in Top Gun... bullshit

Are you SURE you Saw "The Blind Side"???:scratcher:

Sandra Bullock's Character Actually had a Pretty PERFECT Life w/Little to NO Stress @ All...Taking in Oher Actually Made her REassess just How BLESSED Her Own Existence was...Whether or Not they Took in Oher w/the INTENT of Sending him to Ole Miss, the Family STILL Took on a MAJOR RISK...

Was gonna say, his last two posts seemingly talk about another movie entirely.

For what it's worth, I actually know a woman who is just like the character Sandra Bullock portrayed and even somewhat resembles her. She's helped with our softball team for the past two years and anyone who's seen the movie and met her immediately remarks, "You remind me of..."

no need for that nonsense, i saw the fucking movie.

her life was full of stress after she took in michael oher... with the car accident and trying to make Oher realize his potential blah blah blah.

point is the character was completely benevolent and perfect dealing with whatever came her way and it was annoying

Bullock was good in it, but the movie itself was tripe.

Why would 1 little car accident and 1 day of teaching Oher (which is basically how long it took) how to realize his potential mean her life was full of stress? Don't know why you see it that way, but nobody else here agrees with your version of events which basically sounds like a trumped up reason to hate on a movie.

Oh I swear it never fails. Give a movie an Oscar and it's overrated and a piece of shit. Don't nominate a decent movie and it's totally underrated and should have won an Oscar. Why can't more people just judge movies without bias.

IMO Blind Side was a very touching movie and totally entertaining. People complain they made him seem dumb even though his teachers actually say in the film "he isn't dumb". There's a difference between being dumb and being quiet. Oher's biggest complaint in the film was Bullock teaching him how to play football, but IMO that was probably the most touching aspect of the film. Sure lots of people are going to believe it happened exactly like that but Hollywood always adds that type of hearty stuff.

7 months later.... and I still feel the same way. No need to tell me that I am in the minority, I know it. I don't really agree with much of anything anyone here says about movies so it's not really surprising. It has nothing to do with winning an oscar, just the way I feel about it. I definitely didn't articulate my stance very well. But then again I don;'t really care that much. See you in July?
