Hearns... I just can't see Carmen being able to get close enough to him to smother him... Basilio was a ferocious welterweight, incredibly underrated around here, but he doesn't have that one-shot type of power he would need to really have a shot here... he was accumulation, heavy hands, double hooks, but not a one-hit guy... I think he puts up a brave effort, absorbs a shitload of punishment but is stopped by about the 11th... he had a tremendous chin, but there is only so much a guy can take... Hearns is just too long and boxes too well, he'd land those sharp punches and even a tough nut like Basilio is going to fall
didnt help Robinson, Saxton, Bratton any and Kid Gavilan's black quotient was pushed to the limit I know that you don't know anything about Basilio, but he was a great fighter
I could see Hearns holding on for a decision over twelve, or stopping Basilio on facial tear-up at some point. Fifteen would suit Basilio down to the ground. Since I remain skeptical Hearns could outright stop Basilio in his tracks, I think this fight is more open to a guess than a lot of people (who would pick Hearns without blinking) might wager. It would be a tough fight to predict, with several key variables. I have no doubt Basilio can hurt the possibly over-trained version of Hearns who eventually succumbed to Leonard.
