I think Manny could beat all of them but would be walking a bit of a tightrope against Trinidad and Cuevas.
Manny would kill Trinidad, Tito has no way of dealing with speed like that. I'd give Cuevas or JLL the best chances here.
I don't know, I give mid-90's Trinidad a great chance of putting Manny to sleep. JLL stands a chance only because he land a bomb at any time and Manny gets hit/marked up way too much for the level of domination he has enjoyed in recent years. Cuevas has the ultimate puncher's chance. Brown and Jones could make things interesting at best, but neither really offer anything Manny hasn't already seen/dealt with before.
Manny p0wns all of them. Especially lead footed Trinidad who needs his big floppy feet to be set before unleashing one of his huge plaster of paris left hooks. It would be like Mongoose Vs Snake. Tito would get
Agreed, except for Cuevas. Manny beats him easily. Manny should beat Tito also, but trinidad would be a very dangerous fight for him, especially Tito's body attack.
Even if Tito caught him, which I don't think is likely, I don't think he'd KO Pac with a single shot/combo. And Pac isn't going to give him a follow-up opportunity. Tito is a very easy fight for Manny, imo. I wouldn't be surprised to see a stoppage in Pac's favor.
Agreed, but i think this one of those cases where you could give Roach a lot of credit. (strange for a fight that hasn't happened i know ::) I'm just thinking Freddie would see a mile away the weaknesses in Tito's game and Pacquiao would be prepared accordingly. He'd approach it more similarly like the Margarito fight than the Mosley one. Much more circling and not allowing Trinidad to plant his feet for long and no getting in exchanges.
what do you mean if Tito caught him....? Pacquiao for all his success at 145-152 has been hit plenty...Cotto and Margarito bruised him up some...I don't remember Clottey..and I wasn't payin enough attention in the MOsley fight..so i'm not sure.. Pacquiao gets hit...and Trinidad will hit him...but i don't think one punch will do it...but who knows....it's not like Pacquiao has fought a vast range of fighters/fighting styles...at Welter
True, especially in the power dept. I just don't think it matters. Pacquiao would not go to war with Tito and i don't think Trinidad could do anything to force the kind of fight he'd need to win.
A lot of people figured Manny would be in big trouble as soon as he got hit solid by a true welterweight. Hasn't happened. Yes Trinidad hits harder than the guys Pac has faced thus far, but he hasn't even been budged let alone seriously hurt. Absolutely he'll get tagged but he's not going to be there to get hit consistently by Tito's left hook. There is a difference in styles as well for his recent opponents. De La Hoya was too big and too skilled. Manny won't be able to do a thing against him other than run and get smashed by jabs. De La Hoya was old, shot and slow of foot. Enter Hatton. He's fast, agressive and will be all over him. Manny can't fight on the inside. He won't run out of gas like Oscar did. Enter Cotto. He's a true welterweight and not stupid like Hatton. He's patient, and can select his punches. Cotto was too slow and patient. A bigger guy needs to apply pressure. Enter Margarito. He has an iron chin and stamina. Nothing Pacquiao hits him with can hurt him. He'll be in a lot of trouble against somebody that big who can also fight at a smaller man's pace. Enter Mosley. Pacquiao's never fought a guy with that kind of hand speed. He's not a sloth like Margarito. He has skills to go along with the speed. Manny has never beaten an African American fighter.
Still waiting at the door a WELTERWEIGHT in HIS PRIME....with punching power......but Freddie Roach won't let him in..unless he come in at 143... :goingmad: Let's keep it real...the welterweight of today are ass...even at their prime best..Cotto, Margarito, Williams and Clottey had nothing on DLH, Trinidad, Quartey, Whitaker... I give you De La Hoya, Clottey and Hatton...everyone thought DLH was gonna smash Pacquiao..didn't happen. And Pac smashed Clottey and Hatton at their best weight.... BUT THEN...for some weird reason Pac/Roach wanted Cotto at 145, Margarito(who before getting DESTROYED by Shane was tooo damn big, but afterward was OKAY..at a catchweight of course) at 154...and prior to Mosley vs. Mayweather/Mora he didn't want any part of of Shane unless it was at 142-143...but now..sure NO problem... This whole thing is out of Pacquiao hands really...there isn't one guy at Welterweight worth a damn in their PRIME...Bradley is good...but not Trinidad, DLH, Quartey caliber good. Maybe if Pac fought someone like Martinez or can get the fight vs. Mayweather...we can judge how he do against a TOP 20 Welter.....
Most of the welters today are ass, especially if you compare them to the best of the past. However as i posted before, name me one guy who everybody thought peaked as a feather would go up to 147 and barely lose a round, even against Manny's welterweight victims. How can we judge how Pacquiao does against a top 20 welter? The same way we do in all mythical matchups. Part speculation, part historical evidence. I don't believe Manny beats them all. I also don't believe he'd get beaten, let alone dominated by all of them either.
I am stunned to see people expecting Pacquiao to easily beat Trinidad. Easily!? I can't see that. In point of fact, my money would be firmly on Trinidad. Defensively, that fight is asking too much of Pacquiao.
Trinidad is SLOOOW. I'm not a Manny fan by any means, btw (you and everyone else probably already knows this). FWIW I would pick Shane and DLH over Pac in their respective primes at welter, assuming DLH doesn't fade in the fight.
Trinidad had decent handspeed (footwork was not great, in terms of either balance or swiftness), but Pacquiao has never proven anything but a fairly hittable fighter, who is there to engage &, for the most part, simply overwhelm. It's a fire-fight, & Trinidad beats Pacquiao there, as I see it. Cuevas, for that matter, would probably be a big underdog & worth putting some money down on, too. I wouldn't favour him as I would Trinidad, but he'd be dismissed too readily for my liking.
I don't see it, being honest. Pacquiao has not ever been a fighter especially able to avoid the incoming. I really think if both men land (& they will, IMO), Tito is going to respond a good sight better to Pacman's power than vice-versa.
