    This.

If people are going to rip on Calzaghes reign at 168, the same shit applies to Hopkins. Consistency.

Except, in addition to 20 or so defenses Hopkins beat an undefeated Tito, first man to stop De La Hoya, UNIFIED with Joppy and Holmes, and proved his greatness by beating up Pavlik (then undefeated) and Tarver (the man who put fear in Jones' heart).

Except Hopkins unified the belts, fought everyone in the division, and also schooled an undefeated Trinidad that was coming off a huge KO over Joppy.

And Hopkins spent his reign trying to secure big fights.

Calzaghe spent his reign avoiding them.

Calzaghe unified with Kessler and Lacy, what's your point?

Tito was overrated as fuck, I said so at the time. I said Hopkins would win that fight easy. He did. What's your point?

Yeah he won a fixed fight with a smaller name fighter in De La Hoya, who stole his belt off Sturm anyway. What's your point?

    Double standards all round. Pssshhh

And Pavlik and Tarver don't count as they weren't at middleweight. I'm not knocking Hopkins overall career or greatness as a fighter, but his time spent at middleweight is overrated as all fuck

Yeah like when Hopkins agreed to fight Calzaghe then changed his mind and made ridiculous demands for more money when he realised Joe wasn't bluffing

Yeah, Joe would have been all over fighting a smaller man. Fuck Calzaghe. I don't like Hopkins either. But fuck Calzaghe.

Isn't the smaller man thing something Sly was propping Hopkins up with a couple posts ago?

But anyway I can agree with your fuck em both sentiments.

    Tony Zale

Zale fought some of the weakest opposition of any champion and is most famous for three fights against a lesser middleweight who had a great right hand and a whole lot of nothing to support it

As for Sly's mention of Harry Greb, it's preposterous

You dont need to see anything of Greb... all you need to know is who the most highly rated fighters from 147-175 were during his career and scan his record, whereupon you will see that he fought ALL OF THEM several times, winning essentially 90% of the time... his level of opposition is phenomenal... he fought a lot and he won a gargantuan amount of fights (research the newspaper decisions further for comfirmation of this) ... The fact that he did about 50% of this while blind in one eye merely ups the ante a bit more... I don't know that I'd particularly like to pontificate about Greb in a mythical matchup because all we have is words, no images of him... but his place in history? that should be assured beyond question...

Anyway, I'm not on the "Calzaghe is overrated" bandwagon. I'm probably the biggest Calzaghe fan on here, yourself included. But denigrating Hopkins to make Calzaghe look better is where we disagree padna.

No denigration from me mate, Hopkins is a great fighter. I just feel his reign at 160 is given too much props, is all. It's hardly a murderers row. I think his achievements at 175 far surpass what he done at middleweight.

Also, yeah you are one of the few on here who give Calzaghe credit, so it wasn't aimed specifically at you. Calzaghe's resume is lacking, I'm not going to pretend otherwise.

Hopkins is overrated to fuck. Like another overrated middleweight, Stanley Ketchel, his most infamous achievements came above 160. Hopkins is also a steroid cheat. Fuck old, cheating Hopkins.

Tito was at middle the rest was above middleweight so it should not define his greatness as a middle

Why are mythical matchups even mention with Greb. He's clear as day the guy would get his ass kicked by even journeyman level fighters these days.

I haven't seen a mythical matchup involving Greb around here, maybe ever

so once again you are talking out of your ass

secondly, how can anyone say that he gets his ass kicked or not? none of us have ever seen him

but from a purely historical standpoint, he was obviously great... he fought everybody multiple times and beat them multiple times over three traditional weighclasses

I'm sorry you are too stupid to comprehend a concept like this

none of us ever saw Ty Cobb play baseball but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at his accomplishments and understand he was great

stop being deliberately stupid in hopes of stirring shit

Stupid? No, you know what's stupid?

Feigning ignorance to the perception of how Greb would fare against modern fighters.

Ignoring any factors that could easily be brought up, the fact that he was a tiny 5'8 with short arms and little punching power.

A fighter with one eye isn't going to go very far in boxing. It's asinine. Greb should not be picked over even the likes of Chavez Jr in "Mythical Matchups".

    FUCK OFF, ya cunt

Where are these mythical matchups involving Greb???

find one, you stupid twat and then you will have a point

you are (along with hegman) the only person on this site who I am absolutely convinced is an actual shithead in real life

your entire fucking presence here revolves around starting shit with people... you make deliberately obtuse arguments and waste everyone's time every time you are here
