IMO...post-Ruiz Jones' career has effected his legacy. He was knocked out three times and fought to just survive at least twice. Perhaps in time I may look back upon his career more kindly and relegate the post-ruiz atrocities to the same place that I place Louis' post-Walcott career....

** If Mayweather were to beat Manny, he'd move to NUMERO UNO!

There's no need to rank Terry Norris. His spot at the top is already implied. Unless it's a list ranking all of the Norrisseses... and even then Terry v. Chuck is still open to debate

jones is 1 and 1 with hopkins, who beat dlh, who lost to mayweather and pac and mosley (twice), who lost to mayweather and pac, therefore jones is number 1

    my logic is irrefutable

Most talented for sure. It's not even a contest.

P4P the best? Possibly, that's open to debate.

In terms of accomplishments, weight classes, resume, pure performance; Pacquiao is clearly in the lead.

Things might look differently in that regard if either Jones or Mayweather had the fortitude to take the match-making risks De La Hoya did, but they didn't.

De La Hoya's far more ambitious efforts are not lost on me.

guys were a whole lot more willing to face the less talented delahoya for a much larger paycheck than either Jones Jr or Mayweather Jr at their respective fighting peaks

I'm not really sure how I'd rate them if Mayweather-Pacquiao never materializes (or does when it's not relevant).

For instance, I rate Mayweather higher right now than Hopkins (who seems to get more of a pass for selective matchmaking because of his age, while Manny and Floyd get crucified for it). I don't think either Pacquiao and Mayweather are totally blameless, but I put more on Floyd who is acting like a scared bitch of the smaller "amateur" Pacquiao.

If they never fight, do we go by what they already achieved? Or should they drop significantly (especially Floyd) because they don't fight?

Mayweather could have help himself a bit by fighting the last the last 4 fighters in Pacquiao resume..in 2006-2009......but there was always some excuse NOT to fight them....

Had Mayweather faced Cotto, Margarito, Clottey and Williams back in 2007 who rank highter all time Pac or Mayweather would not be a debate...

Williams, Margarito and Winky had no problem facing Mayweather......it was Floyd who had the excuses...

    One of Mayweather's many excuses....

Those names a mention are TOP fighters that had NO PROBLEM fighting Mayweather at his PEAK...

We can use that excuse for Roy Jones...who really had nobody to fight...and the one guy he could have fought Dariusz MichalSHITsky was to scared to fight him..

    Explain?

In the last six years Hopkins fought Taylor (2x), Pavlik, Winky, Tarver, Calzaghe and soon Pascal (2x). That´s a nice resume regardless of age and only missing Dawson, if you closely follow the timeline of his move from 160 to 175. He only fought two bums in six years: Ornelas and Roy Jones. :scared2:

I noticed you stopped short of saying that was the actual reason several big fights didnt materialise. Will you now? I dont think you will, not with a straight face.
