'Leonard was flattered, filled with hope, as any young athlete would be. But he writes: “Before I knew it, he had unzipped my pants and put his hand, then mouth, on an area that has haunted me for life. I didn’t scream. I didn’t look at him. I just opened the door and ran.â€￾'

Unzipped his pants.. THEN put his hand .. THEN his mouth .. and THEN he opened the door and ran..

... well, this explains a great deal!

Not much to say about this.....I hope Ray kicked the shit out him when he was old enough.

He was already 17 or 18 when it happened, according to the account. But yeah, it's still fucked up.

    Not to be a skeptic

    "however"

the guy unzipped his pants, then Ray's, then grabbed Ray's joint, then put his mouth on Ray's joint THEN Ray decided to run.

Translation: Ray came, felt guilty then ran

The guy should have gotten a three piece combo when he unzipped HIS pants...let alone Ray's.

    :nono:

You're 17 and an authority figure starts doing weird shit with his trousers? A guy you think you might rely on to get to the Olympics. A guy your parents probably think allot of. A guy who might be a bit of a bully around the gym and you fear a bit. Etc.

Getting smart about this from behind a computer screen is ridiculous.

  6. The kid was probably scared and in shock. You don't know what kinda mental hold a coach may have on an athlete.

Still...I think it's a TERRIBLE mistake by Ray to have let the world know about this. He should have left it alone and stayed quiet.

I don't really see why Ray is making this public. Is he trying to raise awareness of sex abuse in youth sports? Just trying to sell a book?

Exactly, put it better than I could have

  9. Big mistake!!

I'll get killed for saying this, by the resident "progressive" Liberals, but it compromises his manhood. A fighter, like Leonard, cannot afford to compromise his manhood...we've known him as a warrior. Now we know him as a warrior in the ring who always had childhood hurts from being molested by some dude in his youth.

    Bad move.

Ray was 17 and already a dad by then. Growing up where he did it's not like he fell off the turnip truck the week before.

All the other crap, that's BS.

I am probably the commie liberal in here, but I say fuck 'manhood' if the revelation saves even one child from experiencing the same

We've also known him as a cokehead with a long history of beating women.

    Yes, but that is manly

Dude, all I can think of now is that Ray Leonard was some man's "sugar"! I look at that gentle interview manner and soft-spokenness in a different light now.

I feel bad for him, if it's true, but he shouldn't have said shit!

I think I gotta go with Musze on this one. Some of you are speaking of a 17-year-old as though hes a 7-year-old.

In the dynamic of that relationship, he basically is. Hell Roach still calls 32 year old, millionaire Pacquiao his 'child'.

Transactional analysis ego states and all that, dawg.

That's exactly what I was saying, then Hut made me go and feel bad about making fun of Leonard for being a big gaywad.

Imagine if Duran had known about this prior to the fight in Montreal..

I've sexually assaulted a lot of posters here and you don't see them whining about it.

He would have quit nevertheless and then shot himself in shame?

  23. He quit in New Orleans, not in Montreal. Get with it Fin! :fightme:

    DURAN! DURAN! DURAN! DURAN!

  25. loadedgloves

He didn't quit in Montreal. That was the fight where he talked a ton of trash about Ray and then backed it up by kicking his ass for 15 rounds.

  26. Ugotabe Kidding

Ugotabe Kidding WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

Leonard probably changed his tactics between the fights since Duran's male humping brought him disgusting memories

    Death to Finland!

  28. Muzse has a good point, but not all 17 year olds are the same and not all Mentor-Mentee relationships are the same. You would think that Ray would have exploded a few combinations on him, but who knows what his mental state was in regards to his coach?

  29. loadedgloves

    loadedgloves "Twinkle Toes" McJack

All I've gotta say is that if someone had tried that shit with a 17 year old Duran, you know they wouldn't have even finished attempting to unzip his pants before he'd knocked them the fuck out.
