The problem is that some kids are savvy and others are not. You lower it to 12 and there are some kids who will never get into harm or trouble. You could have it as high as 21 and there will be people out there still getting harmed in someway even though the preponderance of their peers will know one thing from another.

Thus, draw the line somewhere.

If Ray was abused he has an obligation, as well as an entitlement, to talk about it.

 

Ray was under 18 at the time.

 

Up until a few years ago, the minimum age of consent in Canada was 14. It doesn't make it right.

I can't imagine making something like that up---especially a grown adult who has lived their life. Do people think he did it to keep his name in the papers because he's no longer on Dancing with the Stars? :doh:

Also, claiming that Leonard, at age 15 or 17, should have known better is absurd. Sheldon Kennedy was 16-17 or so when he was repeatedly molested by Graham James. It happens to teenagers for a reason: they are still developing mentally and physically, and they often don't know how to deal with it.

Like others stated, it was probably moreso consensual than guilt than molestation.

Seeing as how it says in the book that there was an incident when he was 15, I was able to determine that 15 is less than 18.

 

Wow, so teenagers, being groomed and taken advantage of, are automatically consenting homosexuals? Try saying this to Sheldon Kennedy and Theoren Fleury. This type of thing is devastating to a kid, and the ignorance here from a few people is quite surprising.
