Ray Leonard Claims He Was Sexually Abused

This cracked me up I must admit.

Forgive me for appearing to be a lunatic if thinking that a 17 year old trained boxer, allowing a man to get as far as sucking on his dick...makes me perceive him a little differently than before.

Ray Leonard a week ago was a great fighter, Ray Leonard today is a great fighter than had his dick sucked by another man when he was 17.

this is a 135 pound 17 year old, being violated by a father figure... I dont see it as simple as just some random attack from a stranger... I have to say I am utterly baffled by your point of view

    20*.

He was 20 years old goddamn it. I swear to God you guys have ADHD or some combination of dyslexia. The article says he' fathered a son at 17. It said the incident happened before the Olympics. So if it was that year, or even the year prior, Ray would've been 19 or 20.

This definitely confirms my suspicions and the rumors that Sugar Gay is indeed a flaming homo.

  4. Continue to be baffled my friend. I can offer you no assistance in that regard. I agree with you, as stated in my first post on the thread, that this is different than a random attack in that a coach can have a psychological hold on a mentee.

Nevertheless...Leonard shouldn't have said anything about it...since he kept quiet for 40 years. It only serves now to make him look "compromised" in the eyes of the majority of fight fans.

You could deny that with your liberal self till you're blue in the face, but the general perception of him will change now.

  5. I haven't read the article, just going by what is posted here. if 20...then even worse.

but if he were 18 it would be perfectlly legal and not treated as abuse in a court of law....so for you is it a difference of around 6 months between legal and abuse? :scratcher:

not that it matters anyway as he was 19 or 20 years old

    Huh?

Abuse is a abuse, legal definition or not

If you touch someone in a way that they don't want to be touched, you are abusing them... you may have a tough time proving it in court, but that doesnt change the fact that it is wrong

Leonard wasn't pinned down and touched...so if he was 18 then it's legally considered as consentual homosexual exploration
but if he was 17.5 then it's considered as sexual abuse since it was performed by his coach

No, if he were an adult, which he wasn't, it would be considered sexual assault. You really don't know what you're talking about, and gay jokes don't change that.

Gotta side with the folks saying this most definitely is not abuse. Dude was 20 years old when this occurred. He was a grown ass man and a boxing phenom perfectly capable of defending himself had he wanted to. He wasn't pinned down and raped. From the sounds of it he allowed the whole thing to occur and only reacted in shame afterwards.

Sounds like the older guy in question wasn't even a main trainer. Not sure where you all are getting that he was some sort of father figure with all sorts of influence over Ray??

This spells out consent, not molestation.

There is a interview that circulated a while back, Suge Knight was basically saying that Johnny Gil was living with Sugar Ray at his house and they were gay lovers.

    Totally believe it.

You think a lot more clearly after you finished.

It's like Katt Williams, said if you think the girl you are trying to get in bed MIGHT be ugly, go into the bathroom and jack off, odds are when you back you won't be talking to that woman anymore.

Buddy has spun this story to fit his argument. That is why i questioned all of his arguments when its clear he pulled something out of his ass.

And we know that Ray would but Johnny Gill also would probably knock that fat bastard cold with one punch.

I would not normally reply to a thread like this, and in fact I thought at first that it was just a joke, or a rumor to somehow slam Ray. But if indeed it is true, then I am simply astounded at the politically correct, brainwashed mentality of many that lurk here. We are inundated every day with the same bumper sticker one-line axioms, especially from the mainstream media, and somehow we abandon our own brain in the process. It has become Groupthink.

A MAN of 19 or 20 years old who is old enough to vote, old enough to serve in the US Marines and be in the front line of a war, and old enough to be considered an adult just about everywhere in the world is old enough to decide whether or not they are OK with a clumsy, methodical sexual encounter. They are mentally equipped to deal with it, and they are at a moral maturation point that they can decide if they are allright with it in that regard. They are also capable of stopping it if they desire to, and of course Ray among all others would certainly be able to do that.

The initial action by this man may well be considered an "unsolicited" advance, and may well constitute an assault, but all of that goes out the window for me when the "victim" allows it to continue willingly and knowingly, and quite purposefully allows it to escalate. 10 year old? I see it totally differently. 14 year old? Yeah, same thing, too young. 20 year old man? No. Unless you are talking mentally retarded, developmentally disabled, that sort of thing, then no. A line must be drawn at which you stop the absurd, unconditional defense of the supposed "victim", and in our society that line is adulthood. How many women who willingly go along with sexual encounters in the moment later decide upon re-thinking the situation that they "really didn't want that" and are thus labeled "victims" of some sort of sexual assualt? Or "date rape"? When you are 20, and you willingly participate in a sex act, I am sorry - but no matter how bad you regret it later, you are NOT a victim.

In all fairness,Ray may well not have wanted such an advance, and he may well have gotten swept up in the moment and allowed things to get to a point that in retrospect he was not proud of. But he had the mental power, experience (he was a father already, come on), maturity, and physical power to stop this at any point and he chose to willingly participate.

I don't see how this admission helps anybody. It tarnishes Ray's and this coach's reputation (should we ever find out who he is), and the only "support" I see it giving is to other people who wish they wouldn't have let someone else suck their genitalia when they look back on it 40 years later. I guess there could be a support group for that somewhere. Again, to be fair, I suppose if this coach did this kind of thing to other people who were children at the time, this admission may spur them to come forward. Although I really don't know what good that does since the guy is dead anyway. Any healing they needed to do, or still need to do has to be done on their own as their oppressor is gone forever.

I think on the whole I would have preferred Ray just keep this to himself.

Right. I can hardly believe Hut considers Leonard effectively seven years old in this context, especially without even knowing the perpetrator and their link to Leonard.
