Padding for the back of fighters' heads

I've posed this suggestion before, but given Roy getting smashed earlier it seems topical - why not have headgear that protects the back of fighters heads from rabbit punches and especially whacking their napper off the canvas?

This is surely the most dangerous impact a fighter is exposed to and the headgear wouldn't prevent any legit KOs.

I don't think any type of headgear would break a 6 foot fall to the canvas.

Surely it'd be possible to mitigate it with something. I suppose the main problem is that it'd look FUCKING STUPID

Yeah, imagine a ream of printing paper taped to the back of the fighter's heads.:notallthere:

  5. And for this reason alone it would never be implemented.

I hadn't seen it yet when I posted. I just heard he fell and whacked his napper, ya dig?

How much would this piece of headgear weigh?

Infinitely light and infinitely strong. Made from the same carbon fiber composites as the eurofighter. With 15 foot crested argus pheasant feathers coming out the top to make it look more warrior like and manly.

There's no need for extra protection, that's what the referee is for. Referees just need to start enforcing warnings/points/DQs for rabbit punches .. at this point rabbit punching is almost epidemic and, given how dangerous it is, refs really aren't doing enough to keep it under control.
