Thing is though, no-one credible gives Calzaghe a speck of credit for beating that version of Jones Jr. As I said before that fight, the whole thing was a money-making circus and no more. yet someone listed Jones as one of Hopkin's notable wins (even though Jones holds a 'proper' win over Hopkins when both were extremely relevant)

What are you babbling about?? Wins are wins. I am talking about Winky Wrights losses, of which he had quite a few at 154, his preferred weight. Stay with it, Mohandas.

From 1 to 100 where do you rank him?

I don't know, it is purely speculation.

I think he could have held his own with any middleweight or light heavyweight ever, with the exception of Bob Foster who would have destroyed him, though Bernard will tell you different.

He will be remembered as a great champion, a first ballot hall of famer and a true credit to the sport.

I don't think he would have fared too well against Archie Moore, Ezz Charles or Gene Tunney at Light-Heavy, either, but that's no knock against Hopkins --- truly an outstanding fighter.

I don't know; I think he would have the style to give Moore a lot of trouble as Harold Johnson did, who had a similar style to Bernard.

I never saw Tunney or Charles at light heavyweight, but IMO he would have held his own, but perhaps not have won.

I'm not sure what you mean by your last sentence. You never saw them? Meaning you never watched any footage of those fighters?

Anyway, speed was a problem for Hopkins, so the elite fighters who had it between Middle & Light-Heavy would probably have the beating of Hopkins (when coupled with their many other fine attributes), & 160 & 175 are heavily-loaded divisions for all-time greats.

Hopkins is so much older than Mayweather & Pacquiao, I'm not sure if they actually come under the banner of being the same generation of fighters --- but if they do, I'd have him historically above Mayweather, below Pacquiao.

I have seen extensive footage of them, but does any exist of them at light heavyweight?

3 equals quite a few? And what was he, like 48-3 at 154?

Yep a 94% winning percentage at Jr. Middle. The dude flat out sucked.

Since you are determined to frustrate me with your simpleminded slowness, let's try to go over this slowly

    1. You said Winky couldn't compete above 154 because he had losses at 154, in spite of the fact that he holds several good wins and competitive fights with quality fighters above that weight

    2. Pacquiao has losses at 130 and below.

    3. To illustrate that your reasoning was stupid, I stated sarcastically that a win over Pacquiao above 130 doesn't mean anything because he'd been "found out" at the earlier weights

What part of this is confusing you?

What good wins did he have above that weight?

I think he meant "At that weight"

I may be wrong but that seems more in line with the sentence.

Listen, as I have stated before, you have an annoying trait, if you were a fighter you would be a running stinker. You know I am right, that this entire "history" thing is a fraud. I have made the correct concessions- I have said that there is every chance that every fighter of note is juicing. Its me who wants the debate. Its you who skirts and flits and slides off and won't commit to the debate. Don't accuse me of an "act"....I am most imperative about what I have to say, you are the precatory one..

What? I'm the first one here that assumes doping when anything extraordinary happens. You'd be foolish not to in this day and age. But there is no debate - not without any evidence.

I can say I think Pacquiao is probably on steriods. I can't debate it though. Not going purely on assumption. Same with Hopkins.

Without proof, you're really only left with your cunt.

Still, carry on shitting on everything. I don't know about you, but watching boxing and posting here is a hobby of mine. I watch these fights because I enjoy them. I had a really good time watching Hopkins break that record on Saturday. :bears:

Ezzard Charles, Ray Robinson, Roberto Duran, Henry Armstrong, Pernell Whitaker, Ray Leonard, etc. etc. ... anyone who thinks that Bernard Hopkins is greater than any of those guys is a serious lunatic

When are you guys going to notice that the guys Bernard is fighting are not very good???

do you honestly think that Yaqui Lopez wouldn't pound the dogshit out of Jean Pascal? Never mind 175ers who actually were champs... Spinks, Moore, Charles, Foster, Saad, Jones, Galindez... those guys would shitkick Jean Pascal and Chad Dawson

And, bear in mind, I am not saying Bernard isn't a terrific fighter

I think he gives any middleweight in history a difficult night, and beats plenty of them

but top ten p4p all-time??? thats crazy bullshit
