Froch vs Johnson: Thoughts

Very good round for Johnson. He's closing the gap

 

I've got Johnson winning 7 & 8. 8 was a really good round.

Johnson's bodywork is hurting Froch more than the head shots Froch throws are landing.

Both guys are showing tons of heart.

Good fight.

I have Froch ahead going into the 9th.

 

Froch is really guarding the body now...those bodyshots are paying off.

I;m just calling it as I see it. I think that in the 9th Froch moved his hands,showed better quality work and more of it. Yes, Froch is hurt to the body as he was vs Kessler.

 

Johnson is an animal to fight like this at 42.

 

You know, Froch is fighting like DLH at this point...he's got better handspeed and his punches are flashier but Johnson's picking off a bunch of them.

I think Johnson 's landing the cleaner punches especially bodyshots. Bodyshots are harder to see.

 

Gave Froch the 10th on work-rate. Johnson landed 2 heavy rights and his jab is not what it was. Froch too active.

Johnno hasn't landed too many clean effective body punches in the recent rounds. And Froch has done neat work to the body too. That said Johnson had looked to time that STUPID right uppercut and slip inside to the gut.

 

Froch may have stolen the 11th.

Yep, Glen was clearly winning in the early going, but now I think Frock is a couple of rounds ahead.

 

No, but he's greatly overrated.

 

Froch won the 12th by way of JOhnson just being too damned tired.

Froch probably 2-3 rounds ahead, tops, maybe 1 round if you blindly reward the pressure of Johnson.

Johnson reminded me a lot of his performance in his third fight with Clinton Woods, where he had a big round around the 7th or 8th and then steadily faded and was simply outworked.

Let's see how the judges scored it.

 

Frochs easy. Too many big shots and quick combinations. He pretty much beat the shit out of glenn

I was about to say the same thing. He kind of reminds me of an ugly, retarded version of Calzaghe.

 

I think I called that fight pretty good. You cannot just plod forward and land a few heavier, catchier shots. Froch moved his hands and landed clean every time he got tagged. Did more work.

Johnson knows he lost....."I felt I was in it....I let him come back too much with quick counters, on the inside, trying to land bigger shots, I let him into the fight, the judges gave him credit for the effort and stuff like that counts".

Good fight. Froch won't beat Ward but he deserves his place in the final

 

As I said to Reed and Feebles: on a 10-point must system, Dirrell beat Froch.

Dirrell made it look like that Froch beat him because Dirrell kept running away, but Froch didn't really discomfit Dirrell too much.

Dirrell just gave the impression too often of a man who didn't want to be there.

 

I generally always choose boxing over MMA, but I'll watch Pettis vs Guida over this scrubfest :kidcool:
