Bob Foster's hook or Tommy Hearns' right hand? (p4p, obv)

  2. Terribly boring topic I have to say.

    Anyway...Hearns right hand.

Not specifically the shots in this fight, BTW, I just thought I'd post a couple of example vids.

    :pathetic:

What else do we have to talk about Sly? Wanna talk about our feelings?

  5. Didn't mean to offend just not much to discuss with this topic.

I think Tommy's straight right was a bigger shot. But for me, Foster's left hook was just a more aesthetically pleasing shot.

Something about a well-timed, powerful left hook that beats all other punches in terms of beauty.

Tommy's right hand was awesome, he hit people and it looked like they got shot

i remember recently watching a documentary i had on SRL and Angelo dundee was worried about Tommy, some in his camp really were worried cuz Tommy was LEVELING people

A tall guy, rangy throwing such a beautiful short left hook is quite unique as well. It's pretty.

Allot of guys Foster KO'd with that hook looks as if a tool box had fallen off the top shelf onto their coupon. Paralysed. He gets my vote by a hair.

    Seriously.

Not to mention, when's the last time Sly started a topic worth discussing?

I think the knock-out of Duran, all on its own, leaves little doubt that Hearn's right-hand is nearly unmatched.

It's more impressive to knock dick tiger out cold with one shot IMO than to knock Duran down a couple of times and THEN out... Both punches are phenomenal examples of their kinds, but I vote for Foster's hook which was simply ridiculous

I would go with Ray Robinsons left hook or Rocky's short-right, both of which produced the two single best 1 punch KO's of the 20th Century, before even considering either of the mooted shots.

That said, for me, Hearns showed a big right right hand 30lbs over his natural weight. Hearns hurt and busted up fighters as good as Hagler with that right hand, and that was 13lbs North of Welter.

Foster, who was a full 6'3" if not more, simply did not retain the killer power once he moved up. It is perhaps a twisted test in that the heavyweights are simply a harder-to-hurt class of fighter.

I always preferred a right-hand. A straight line is a shorter distance between two points than an arcing, hooking equivalent.

I like straight rights more than left hooks, voted for Hearns but then again Foster's KO of Tiger was a thing of beauty

All of Sly's topics are worth discussing. Just not in this forum.
