ortiz has a very good chance to KO mayweather jr. if he loses however, then can we expect pacquiao - ortiz in 2012?

It's no Mayweather-Pacquiao, but I'll accept it just to see the master in action against a pretty decent foe. Hopefully this'll translate to a May-Pac showdown in January.

I don't have a problem with this fight. Good scrap for as long as it lasts.

Even the most focused Floyd haters (such as myself) can't bitch about this matchup. It's certainly more viable than Pacquiao vs Clottey, Margarito and Mosley.

pac and Marquez dance in october or november...think May.

second time I've seen you say this...what makes you think this?

I think Victor will give a good account of himself but has flaws that play into Floyd's strengths.

i'm glad to see Floyd fight again

if Pac wants to take drugs and not fight, Floyd has to fight other people

while ortiz looked very good vs. berto, i can't forget what what he did (or didn't do after the first 3 rounds) vs. peterson.

hopefully, he's a better fighter now that he's at 147, but i still expect floyd to outbox him and win in a dominant fashion.

Im hoping those blips at 140 were down to being very weight drained. The way he gave away the Peterson fight was terrible. He basically decided not to win.

While Ortiz fought and won in a very exciting fashion against Berto....he didn't exactly look good.

Mayweather vs. Ortiz doesn't really do it for me. It'll be a sparring session until Ortiz quits.

And I've been an Ortiz fan for a long time.

ortiz would have murdered gatti. be real

ortiz is very talented offensively and can punch AND is left handed. mayweather jr has been a pro fighter for a very long time and has been extremely inactive (hasnt even been in the gym much). bad recipe here and ortiz has an excellent chance to win by stoppage.

Other than Pacquiao...It's the most meaningful fight for Floyd. Better Floyd stays relatively active if he hopes to fight Pacquiao eventually. Would you rather he stayed inactive until the Pac fight materializes? Would you rather he fought Cotto, Margarito or Cintron? Perhaps Mosley again? Come on dude.

    wrong.

If Ortiz comes in with the same mentality he had vs Berto he will make a good fight. As long as Victor doesn't take too much of a victory lap he should be okay.

When was the last time either Floyd or Manny fought a young, hungry fighter out to make a name?

the Gatti fight is moot...the guy was always a punching bag.

Plus...Floyd's been a part-time fighter since 2007...that's bound to show in the ring at some point.

Please....a few missed punches from Ortiz, follow by a sharp counter punches from Mayweather..it's alll it will take for Ortiz to look for a way out...

ortiz will catch and hurt mayweather jr early on in the fight. whether he can finish him is the big question seeing as how he hasnt proven to be a good finisher.

You know the guy is way off base when I'm sticking up for Floyd. Should automatically tell Illuminati he's on the wrong end of this argument.

Those 3 guys would give him a better fight than Victor Ortiz...and all 3 would also trash Ortiz...AND Sergio Martinez is out there looking for a fight...
