Not the Fight we All Want, Obviously, but a Pretty Good COMEBACK Fight...Ortiz Carried 147 VERY Well...His SPEED & POWER Moved Up w/him Too...He Seemed More ENERGIZED...Threw HARDER Shots for Looooooonger Stretches...& Even when the Going Got TOUGH vs. Berto, Ortiz NEVER Wilted..

Ortiz was TALLER & THICKER than Berto, who's THICKER than Mayweather...Ortiz will B BIGGER & STRONGER than Floyd & he's an Aggressive, Hard Punching Southpaw...

Again, this ISN'T the Fight we ALL Want to See, but it's HARD to Accuse Floyd of "Cherry Picking" in this Instance...

none of them fight at Welter anymore...if they could still make 147 all three would fuck Victor Ortiz up....

Ortiz had one fight at 147 against Berto who everyone knew he was overated and now he is some world beater...sure he's young and aggressive...but when face with consistent aggression he will fold...

in case you havent noticed ortiz fights at welterweight. margarito doesnt even fight anymore. if cotto or cintron were to fight ortiz at welterweight they get KOd. cotto is finished and cintron is a never was who doesnt even hold a career victory on par with berto.

as for your last remark, mayweather jr will not fight with consistent aggression against ortiz.

    Ridiculous.

Cotto and Margarito were each butchered by Pacquiao. There's no point in Mayweather fighting them. Cintron? Are you kidding?

It's a good fight IF Floyd doesn't take another long hiatus afterwards, otherwise it's ridiculous

Mayweather's too old to afford anymore long hiatus'. After this fight it's Pacquiao or retirement.

1% huh? who's statement is more ridiculous. if the odds are good on ortiz by KO (better than 4-1, which i expect they will be) i'll certainly put down some dollars.

Pac aside this is the best fight I can think of for Floyd. Besides perhaps Bradley but then we'd complain about him not fighting a proper sized welter again.

Hopefully mate. How would you feel about his career if he retired without facing Pacquiao after this? Not knocking or anything, I just know you rate him highly (as do I) and wondered how you'd look back on it

If he doesn't fight Pacquiao that would always be a knock against him.

Eh...it's an okay fight. I love watching Floyd box and I'm glad he's back in the ring, but the Pacquiao fight has to follow this one up. I hope he's doing it as a tune-up for Manny, left-hander and all, but I'm not going to get overly optimistic.

    "Comeback" fight? WTF!!!

Didn't he just have one of those two years ago against JM Marquez, and followed that up with old ass Mosley.

Love how people on here are calling Gatti a bum, while praising Ortiz and this matchup. If Ortiz had one quarter the fortitude of Gatti, this might actually be a decent matchup. As it is, Mayweather will take Victors heart and have him begging his corner to stop the fight by the 5th round.

Funny, same guys trashing Berto a year ago, are now telling us Ortiz is the answer to all our dreams.

I said this a year ago and I'll say it again. Fuck Mayweather and fuck Pacquiao. Stringing us along like a we're a bunch of retards for years, so they can eventually charge $99.95 for a PPV and have all us clowns ooohing and ahhhhing about the new saviors of boxing who fight once a year and call every other fight a "comeback" fight, demand weight and contract stipulations of their opponents and overall, act as if the normal rules of boxing don't apply to them.

Not a great fight but unless PAC or May face each other or possibly Martinez then there is no great fight for either guy. The problem with giving Floyd credit for a good comeback fight is that all of his fights can be called that from here on out.

I fully expect him to retire again after this fight.

This is Absolutely, Positively THE LAST "Comeback" Fight that Floyd Should B Afforded, before Making the Pacquiao Fight Happen...

The Marcos Maidana fight convince you of that.

and anyways......who gives a fuck? You missed my point entirely.

Did you think Berto was some sort of man-killer also, or were you one of those saying he was trash not too long ago?

The only reason this fight is taking place is because Ortiz is a Golden Boy product and they are cashing out on him before he completely flakes out on the sport.

Its a good fight. Very legit. I've been hatin on Floyd for a while now I admit, but this is a good one for him.

I still think he's reluctant to fight Pacquiao and that will not change until he signs that fight.

But I'll be watching this one.

Obviously we all rather watch Mayweather - Pacquiao more than anything but this is a pretty good fight. One thing you have to hand Floyd is that he fights them after coming from their best performance or greatest achievement. This is a young, quick, hungry power hitter he will be facing after a long lay off, Ortiz is more confident than ever. It should be good.

Floyd will be rusty for sure, I'm pretty confident will hurt him early on and Floyd will have to dig deep. That should get him ready for Manny if he beats Victor and Floyd and Manny stop bullshitting around.

    Exactly.

They're basically selling their Ortiz stock when it's as high as can possibly get yet they get to keep options in the event the near impossible happens. Nice position to be in.
