Personnally, I think this is a great fight. Ortiz looked like a front runner in a few fights but this is his chance at stardom, or even superstardom if he manages to win. This is the perfect timing for him. Mayweather has been inactive, he isn't getting any younger either and he has always had difficulties with southpaws. I'll watch this one.

Ortiz completely fucking blows, I knew when I saw the Berto fight that Mayweather would be actively pursuing a fight with him.

It would have been better if Ortiz had a few more names on the resume. I would have rather Mayweather came back against Martinez or something but this fight will do I guess since he's coming off a layoff. It would have been the same complaints if he had of came back against a Cotto, Margarito, or Cintron. Like REED said its not what we wanted to see but its still an Ok fight to take for now.

Facing Ortiz at 147 beats the hell outta Manny facing Marquez at 147 imo

Only if you believe that Floyd is a fraud or has a glass chin which in both instances I tend to agree with you.

40 mil!! Floyd is an idiot. Commanding those kinds of dollars he should be fighting 3 times a year not once every 16 months.

You said that last time. Or was it the time before? I forget.

Yet again Mayweather fights somebody coming off an impressive win.

I fucking hate Sky. On their news site they're saying the fight is at 160 and Floyd is going for a title in his sixth weight division. How can they get things wrong so fucking consistently??!!?

Whats bullshit about it. Floyd fighting a guy coming off a career best win after being inative for over a year.

Yea, he's an all-comers type of guy. :shit:

We should all be happy he's not fighting Berto I guess.

Please Floyd, throw us some more crumbs..............please Floyd retire again after this fight so you can fight nothing but "comeback fights" for the rest of your career.

  12. Still smarting over the way he BEAT THE ABSOLUTE FUCK OUT OF AN UNDEFEATED RICKY HATTON I see!!!

Yeah, Hatton was a monster at 147............as was Marquez.

Hatton was the same at 147 as he was at 140. Just 7 lbs less dehydrated/rehydrated. It was fine for Pac to fight him after Floyd took his soul..

Hey, who's Pac fighting next again? Oh yeah, another guy who didn't win one second of his fight against Floyd.

Ortiz is big, fast, very skilled offensively, and a southpaw. Floyd is no longer in his prime. Definitely an interesting matchup.

Pac better be next, though. Floyd is what, 34 now? Speed's the first thing to go and he doesn't have a lot of time left, maybe 2 years max. Pac is a couple of years younger than Floyd, waiting any longer is only gonna benefit Manny.

Yeah, you picked the wrong guy if you think I'm bashing Floyd to suck Pac's cock. Both of these guys can go eat a dick for all I care. Circle-jerkers.

..........Hatton, the same at 147. Yeah, keep believing that.

  18. We don't know and will never know. ONE fight (other than Floyd) at a weight isn't enough to tell. In mayweather's first fight at 135lbs he looked average by his standards to the point where the HBO crew were suggesting that he shoudl have stayed at 130lbs. Over the course of his career we now know that this was premature. Same with Hatton. Collazo may have had the wrong style for him..or it just may not have been his night. Simple as that.

There's really no reason to believe otherwise. Hatton didn't add 7 lbs of weight, he just subtracted 7 lbs of dehydration. Floyd could've made 140 just as easily himself.

Hatton was supposedly the bigger guy all along, he stated that he was happy about the fight being at 147 as it'd be easier for him to make weight and he was bigger than Floyd.

But this has already been done to death here.

This fight isnt going to be competitive. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a FLOMO.

  21. loadedgloves

    loadedgloves "Twinkle Toes" McJack

I would think a Flomo would insist that Floyd would destroy Ortiz.

In all likelihood he will.. but in all likelihood he'd do the same to Pac, and that's obviously still an interesting matchup.

  22. Not many Floyd fights are competitive. This is nothing new...

  23. Hex-One

    Hex-One "Twinkle Toes" McJack

I agree but there are already Flomos here saying its gonna be a good match up. Ortiz is a good fighter, but he beats a fighter in Berto who half the forum thought he was a bum, and now all of a sudden Ortiz is now a force. Pathetic. Before the Berto fight Ortiz wasn't even considered a threat to anyone.

  24. Hex-One

    Hex-One "Twinkle Toes" McJack

I agree. This is the reason many should boycott this stupid fight. The only opponent that makes sense as of now is Pacman.

  25. They don't tend to be competitive because he's just that good, motherfucker, not because he fights bums. :finger:

Why rally to penalize a guy just because he's a genius?

Ortiz beat the previously undefeated former title holder Andre Berto. If that is not a competitive fight for Floyd it's to Mayweather's CREDIT that it isn't.

  26. Hex-One

    Hex-One "Twinkle Toes" McJack

Only fights that needs to happen now is PBF vs Pacman. No other fight makes sense.

  27. But until then he needs to stay active....

If the Pacquiao fight can't happen next then who do you want Floyd to fight? This is the best fight he can take. Ortiz after his Berto win is the best welterweight around that isn't named Pacquiao or Mayweather. Personally I think Neil is vastly overrating Ortiz' realistic chances of winning the fight, but this is a very good fight and Ortiz is an incredibly legitimate opponent. Southpaw stance too? IMO this keeps teh Mayweather-Pacquiao dream alive for next year, which gives us one more year of hope for the mega match.

i thought berto was good but untested. i always have thought ortiz was very talented and gave him a good shot to beat berto.

why wouldnt golden boy make this fight? ortiz just silenced critics by coming back from adversity to win. his head seems to be in the right place. mayweather jr is old, inactive and now is as good a chance as any for golden boy to actually build a young, marketable fighter into a huge attraction if he is able to win.

maidana wouldve caved gattis head in as well

If this is a tuneup for a Pac fight early next year then it is fine. Otherwise it's ridiculous.

The people in the other thread that doubted Floyd was guaranteed 65 million to fight Pac should be eating crow right now. Guaranteed 40 million just to fight Ortiz.
