John Ruiz is a perfect example. He had to fight aggressively because he lacked the skill to do anything except charge ahead. And yet, his unwillingness to trade with his opponents, or throw more than one punch at a time, meant that at the end of 99% of his charges was a desperate clutch for dear-life, hoping against hope, he'd gotten close enough, and with his head down far enough, so as not to expose that china chin of his and be knocked on his azz.

Hopkins too fought like this for much of his career at 160, finding refuge in the chest of his opponents, bounding there arms with his own, holding and hitting since the sport is too dangerous and requires too much skill not to break the rules.

X2, Shane obviously has a better chin too, but isn't tougher.

Saying Gatti is tougher is no knock on Mosley.

its true. having zero defense and going life and death with marginal opposition does not make him a tougher guy.

Speaking of Lewis, he had his cowardly moments, when he'd hit his opponent once and then grab. Same with Wlad. Neither of these guys I'd classify as aggressive fighters, but when they became aggressive, often it was in a cowardly fashion, with zero willingness to trade, no combination punching, and no practice of any legitimate defense.

Gatti had to EXHIBIT "Toughness" More than Mosley Did, but that Doesn't AUTOMATICALLY Mean he WAS Tougher...If Ali had NEVER Returned to Boxing After Being Exiled, People would Question HIS Toughness Too....

Mosley Took an ASSWHIPPING in the 1st Fight w/Forrest...To the Head AND Body, yet he NEVER Quit or Even Discussed it...Winky Wright Handled him Pretty Convincingly in their 1st Fight as Well...The Fight w/Pac has JUSTIFIABLY Left a BAD Taste in the Mouths of Boxing Fans, but that DOESN'T All of a Sudden Mean that Sugar Shane was a BITCH for the Duration of his Career...

People forget that Shane Mosley was afraid to throw punches for a few years after Forrest I.

In fact, the Pacquiao fight really has no influence on my opinion of Mosley.

He did not seem too particularly interested in throwing many punches against Marquez.

Forrest didn't have much of a punch and I think Mayorga exposed that.
