Gatti is way tougher than Shane it's not even close.

  3. Hanz

    Hanz Roberto Duran

Gatti is tougher than most. He was probably too tough for his own good.

  4. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

its hard for me to consider a guy way tougher than another guy who is roughly the same size when the allegedly less tough of the two would have knocked the other guy out inside a round. maybe if mosley wouldve let ordinary fighters beat the hell out of him and bust him up for several rounds before coming back to win he'd be considered tough.

  5. TLC

    TLC "Twinkle Toes" McJack

Maybe if he didn't beg his cornermen to stop fights he'd be considered tougher than a guy who'd literally fight to the death.

    Literally.

  6. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

gatti didnt seem to protest the stoppage or be willing to fight to the death against mayweather jr..

He did protest the stoppage. Not sure what you are talking about. McGirt told him he wouldn't let him go out because his eye was closed.

Vernon Forrest is 1 of ONLY 2 People to EVER Drop Sugar Shane Mosley to the Canvas, as a Pro OR an Ammy...Mayorga had a GREAT Welterweight Chin...1 of the Better Chins EVER, for that Particular Weight Class...

In Fact, It Wasn't Until he Faced Tito Trinidad @ 160, that Mayorga's Punch Resistance Began to Slip...From there, his LACK of Discipline & the YO-YO'ing of his Weight Only HASTENED the Slippage...

 he didnt protest shit. he nestled his head on mcGirts shoulder and capitulated.

It was a COURTESY "Protest", if Anything...Gatti SORTA Mumbled Something Back, but it's NOT like he VEHEMENTLY Protested it or Anything...

And then 5 seconds later, Floyd dropped to his knees and began crying over the biggest victory of his life and proving all the doubters wrong.

    Mosley for sure

    Tua definitely

  16. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

gatti was definitely a tough guy, but that image was enhanced by his match making, poor defense, tendency to fight down to the level of (mediocre at best) competition, bleeding

    cdogg187 GLADYS

Gatti also had a lousy chin, which meant he got hurt in almost every fight, this of course revealed his great strength - physical resiliency... he recovered rapidly from being hurt, but he was easily hurt

  18. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

i consider it a knock on a guys toughness if he is easily hurt.

  19. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

why? it's a physiological response, it can't be helped

it's like saying a guy who is cut prone is less tough

  20. Anthony

    Anthony Admin Staff Member

Being hurt doesnt mean you arent tough. Especially when you fight through the hurt like Gatti did.

  21. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

if it is difficult to hurt a guy then he is tough. plenty of boxers say the same. "i hit him with everything but damn he is tough"

  22. Azazel

    Azazel "Twinkle Toes" McJack

Ruiz is a terrible example, the kind of automated answer someone who doesn't think much would say. the only fight you could accused him of not showing too much balls is the Jones fight, and he may have an excuse there with the divorce ( and Roy Jones was just a freak ). no he didn't have an exciting style, but just watch his fight with Haye, in the twilight of his career, and he kept trying to catch Haye in between his punches, is only hope of victory, even though he was getting badly beaten. Add the Golota figt, the first 2 holyfield fight, the toney fight, all fights he won, or was competetive in, just by outgutting his opponents

    Mannnn fuck that bum Gatti!

Mentioning him with Shane in ANY category is a crime!

Whats so "tough" about getting your shit kicked in twice by Ivan Robinson?

  24. Hanz

    Hanz Roberto Duran

Yeah well your punk hero in your avatar never got off his back to win a fight in his whole career and got his sh*t pushed in many times yet you still display it proudly. What's up?

Couldnt have put it any better. Glass houses, X.

  26. Xplosive

Mike's alive and doin well for himself, while Gatti was a wife beater who got strangled to death by a whore.

  27. Hanz

    Hanz Roberto Duran

Nice comeback, X. WTF does that have to do with boxing though?
Oh yeah, your hero was a wife-beater too. He even said the best punch he ever threw was at his wife Robyn. And I doubt he's doing well for himself after having lost hundreds of millions and been on all sorts of drugs and medication. You're talking about a guy who last week threw his belts like they were trash, calling them "Garbage" and basically wishing he had never become a boxer. Dude's got all sorts of problems.

  28. Hanz

    Hanz Roberto Duran

Also, some of the most entertaining fights over a 7-8 year span were Gatti fights. Funny how guys on here are talking sh*t about the guy now despite watching all his fights live on HBO all those years and then staying up late into the morning talking about how awesome his fight was and how much heart he had.
It was because of guys like Gatti that helped carry the sport. Dude was all action from the opening bell! Back in the days when boxing still mattered.

Agreed with this. If toughness is understood only this way it becomes as misleading as the typical guts = poor defense argument

  30. Ramonza Soliloquies

    Ramonza Soliloquies "Twinkle Toes" McJack

Mike is utterly incapable of doing well. All good fortune is temporary for him, because the man is a born-loser --- hes proven it countless times over. Hes also a wife-beater, but I guess that isnt so terrible, provided you arent killed by one?

    Guaranteed, Tyson goes before 50.
