Diaz was a very good fighter. From the posts around here you guys are making it appear like was a bum, that wasn't the case at all.
I didn't like him. I think I just hate the way people latch onto a mexican just because he has some heart. The guy got smashed by Marquez in humiliating fashion. How is anybody supposed to respect that? If you don't win, then why should anybody cheer for you? Tell me...:dunno:
He lost a FOTY to ATG in Marquez. That was probably one of the best fights people on here have ever seen. Not humiliating at all.
Rjjp4pno1 has NEVER Shown the Least Bit of Respect for Ricky Hatton, so REED is Interested in just HOW He'd Rate Hatton, Since he's Calling Juan Diaz a 'Very Good Fighter'.... REED:dancingBaby:
Great story and good for Diaz. He had a very full boxing career that included winning a world title, defending a world title a few times, and being involved in an epic fight that will be remember historically. And he is getting out of the sport at 27 years old. He is just a kid really getting ready to start his life. I hate to say it, but this is the way it should be done.
he also has very little respect for shane mosley. mosley and hatton are two guys who wouldve absolutely butchered the slapping, sobbing guy he praised in this thread.
U Should've just Stated the Latter Portion of your Sentence, Because there's NO WAY in Hell that Diaz was a Better Fighter than Hatton, Homey...A PAST PRIME Hatton WRECKED Paul Malignaggi PRIOR to Paulie SCHOOLING Juan Diaz TWICE... Malignaggi's POWDER PUFF Punches Actually Earned RESPECT from Diaz...Hatton All but MURDERS Juan Diaz, Head to Head... U REALLY Need to Check your HATE for Hatton, Because he was BETTER than Juan Diaz.... REED:shit:
diaz was only entertaining when marquez was kicking the shit out of him in their first fight. fuck diaz, there are no other fights in his career i care to rewatch
http://www.maxboxing.com/news/main-lead/alvarez-and-chavez-jr-are-greatfor-boxing WHEN shit like the above is being posted, it is only a matter of time before the uninitiated amongst us begin to accept as the pure truth HORSESHIT notions that Diaz was better than Hatton. Hatton was better than Diaz at getting fat, too. Difference is he dropped the weight before his fights.
No, he isn't. When he was fighting Diaz-level-comp {Sucre Ray Oliveira, Tony Pep, Vince Phillips, Paulie Malignaggi} he invariably did a lot better than Diaz did or would have done. As Reed has pointed out, Ricky got his ass beat by Floyd, then struggled with Lazcano {in parts} before having a bad first round vs Maliganggi and then effectively beating the piss out of Paulie. It was better than a regular stoppage in that Ricky forced Buddy McGirt to pull Paulie out of the fight. Paulie then went on to share a brace of 12 round decisions with Diaz. :: Ricky is if anything underrated on how his career ended. The right hands he shook off vs Tszuyu would have ended not only Diaz boxing career, but his academic career too. He would have ended up at the St. Brandon Rios Home For the Mentally Deficient.
The FACT of the Matter is, Ricky Hatton was MORE Talented than Juan Diaz, ACCOMPLISHED MORE, had a BETTER Resume AND Woulda WHIPPED Diaz's Ass, Head to Head... There is No Argument WHATSOEVER that Supports YOUR Assertion that Juan Diaz was BETTER than Ricky Hatton...Hatton was SUPERIOR Across the Board... REED:hammert:
I agree that Hatton was terrible to watch, but come on, Diaz is not even close to being in the same league as him. Hatton wouldn't have even needed to reach into his arsenal of jiujitsu moves for that fight.
Punching power is the only advantage Hatton has. Their resumes are comparable considering neither could move up in weight. Hattons biggest wins are Collazo (gift), Paulie, Zoo, Urango, Maussa Diaz's Paulie (gift), Diaz, Katsidis, Freitas I don't see a whole lot of difference in it.
Punching power Hatton's only edge? What kinda drugs are you on? Hatton was faster of hand, MUCH MUCH quicker of foot, stronger, better chin(prior to the Floyd fight), and mentally tougher. Diaz was a hard worker, but he HAD to be considering he wasnt very talented. Hatton drank like a fish between fights, yet still would wipe his ass with Diaz, simply because he was much stronger, more talented, and better. This is the dumbest arguement in history.
