KELLERMAN: "Wladimir, why do you hate David Haye?"
KLITSCHKO: "Well, David Haye talks a lot, and, with his earring, and his... 'flashy-flash', and all of those things, he... he wants to be... he wants to to be a wannabe. David Haye is a wannabe... [continues for 2 more minutes]."
KELLERMAN: "David, why do you hate Wladimir?"
HAYE: "Well, he's clearly a dickhead."

whatever else happens in the buildup and the fight, however much of an asshole haye is, that was classic.

there might never be a clearer case of someone decisively winning the hype, and then decisively losing the fight.

Haye belongs in a glass jar. A marmalade jar would suffice. Once Wlad is finished kicking the shit out of him, he'll probably fit and all.

Wlad punked the lad in his own country, Haye wouldn't even share a room with him.

Haye hasn't even fought in America. It must be the first time that a guy has participated on a premier HBO show without ever having fought in America.

Shows you just how much Haye has blagged his way into this.

Wlad would have wet his pants against a prime Lennox, but Haye is not a prime Lennox or anything close to it.

Replace Wlad with a prime Lennox. Haye pisses his pants.

Lennox wouldn't be as disrespectful as Haye has been so it's a moot point.

If he was as disrespectful though, I don't see Wlad acting any different with Lennox as he has with Haye. I am not saying he'd have a shot at beating Lennox, but I don't get that he's a fearful guy no matter who is standing in front of him. He seems very confident.

Apparently this was shot before the "Ringside" episode, which was supposed to be the British equivalent of face-off, with both men sitting aside each other with Adam Booth and Johnny Nelson asking the questions. But Haye pulled out, and refused to sit aside Klitschko and sat backstage doing Borat impressions instead. Puts that HBO performance in perspective. He knows he's bottling it. Ice always defeats fire, once Wlad has softened Haye's cough, he's going to beat the guy like a red-head stepchild multi-tasking as a £2 whore riding a rented mule.

    When has Wlad expressed fear?

Or is it that Wlad is only confident because of his size but p4p he is scared?

Lennox was a gentleman to the point of being indolent. Haye on the other hand belongs to the Herbie Hide set......

I'd say during his laughable display against the obese bum Sam Peter, but that wasn't really pre-fight.

Against the other fat C-/D level bums he's fought, you're right, he's never expressed any fear of them.

He was so fearful that he fought him a 2nd time just so he could feel that fear again? :scratcher:

pfp he was avoiding Lamon Brewster, preferring to fight undefeated Sam Peter instead. I think Maxboxing had Peter down as a favourite, 11 members to 1 or so.

GREAT point, I forgot about how he rematched him again 6 years later after his older brother pounded him into the canvas & he started looking even shittier than he was in the first place, that was VERY brave of Wlad.

Sam Peter filled in for Povetkin, who pulled out on the advice of Grandmaster Atlas. Wlad had wanted to fight an undefeated guy, much as he had done when he beat Sam Peter the first time, but Teddy Bear wasn't having it.

Did you know that John Ruiz lost to David Haye 6 years after he had lost to Roy Jones??

Technically it was 5 years later, after Sam Peter won 4 straight and was put into the number one contender position. If Wlad hadn't fought him then would've been stripped of his title.

I'd think that if he was scared of the guy then he would've given the belt up.

What belts? The IBF belt he got when he beat up small Chris Byrd like 6 years after he first fought him? Or the WBO belt he got when he ran for 12 rounds vs Ibragimov and barely threw a punch???

This is a dumb debate anyhow. You can knock Wlad for a lot of things, but being fearful shouldn't be one of them. He has given no reason to assume he'd piss himself or act any differently in the presence of a prime Lennox.

None of the uninteresting and irrelevant posts following mine address the facts that

    a) Peter wasn't good to begin with

    b) He was absolutely done by the time Wlad got around to fighting him again (6 years later)

    c) If rematching him six years later (or five years, whatever it was) when he looked like shit and could barely handle a fat James Toney, got pounded into submission by Vitali, etc etc meets your standards for bravery, that's kind of funny

I could care less about Haye, the fact that he sucks doesn't make Wlad any better.

He did quit vs Purritty though.

Incredible. I salute youtube and twitter.

If there had been youtube in 1999, Wlad never would have gotten that "quitter" tag in the first place.

People would have seen the fight, known that he punched himself out, and left it at that.

Of course there was no youtube and scum-fucks got the word around to the contrary, namely that he had bottled it.

a} Peter was undefeated and the IBF mandated that both men face off to determine the IBF mandatory. Peter was favourite to win. If you think Peter wasn't any good, then show me your betting slip for the fight in question. Right.

b} After they fought, Peter went the WBC route of his own volition. This meant that he and Wlad were on diverging rather than converging routes. Peter was more than happy fighting Maskaev, Toney, etc. He then made the mistake of thinking that he had Vitali's number. He didn't. None of that had anything to do with Wladimir.

c}Wlad wanted to fight Povetkin. Povetkins lack of bravery let Sam Peter back in the door. Don't blame Wlad for that.

d}just shut the fuck up and drive.

Do you think Wlad will dominate one of the original 8 divisions for a decade, be universally considered one of the greatest fighters of all time at that weight, then move up 2 divisions and beat one of the 3 or 4 greatest fighters of all time at that weight?

Stupid fucking comparison. Can you see a prime Duran losing to fucking Ross Purrity? GTFO with that shit. Nobody with a brain in their head would ever compare Duran and that giant roided up pussy. Duran is a living legend, Wlad is a historical footnote.

Thanks for reminding me of the Purrity fight btw, I'd forgotten about that - that shit was hilarious.

Once again, none of this addresses the fact that it's stupid to use Wlad rematching Peter as evidence for establishing his bravery or dismissing how he fought scared in their first fight.

Seems pretty logical to me. If Wlad was scared of Peter in the first fight as you claim, then it seems pretty brave that he'd be willing to fight him again no matter how their careers went after that first fight.

IMO he didn't look scared in the first fight anyhow. He just looked clumsy and awkward. Each time he was knocked down he popped right back up. Is that the trait of someone who is scared of his foe?
